Zimbabwe allows tour operators to enter Victoria Falls Park to take footage
Zimbabwe has decided to allow tour operators and hoteliers to enter the Victoria Falls National Park to take footage of the falls, for marketing purposes. The falls is said to be the largest curtain of falling water in the world and is shared between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls, a world heritage site, was closed from early April ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. Zimbabwe launches first tourism App
Zimbabwe launches its first tourism application, Accoleisure, with an aim to bring the country’s sought after destinations to the digital age. “Through the app, tech savvy domestic and international tourists have been offered a platform to search for accommodation, interact with tourism operators and service providers as well,” said Elisha Chitate, product development manager at Accoleisure. “This is a first of its kind in Zimbabwe because Accoleisure does not require data and connects all key stakeholders in the tourism industry at a single platform. Zimbabwe records 2.4 million tourist arrivals in 2017
Zimbabwe attracted more than 2.4 million tourist arrivals in 2017, a 12 per cent increase from the previous year. The increase in arrivals can be attributed to the country’s safe ans peaceful environment,” said Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga while addressing the gathering during the launch of the National Tourism Master Plan. In 2017, Zimbabwe received a total of 2422930 tourists, registering an increase of 12 per cent compared to the 2167686 footfalls in 2016.
