Meghalaya to copy Kerala to develop Ayush model

Meghalaya, the northeast state of India, is planning to explore the potential of Ayush treatment in the state to promote tourism. It was informed by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander Laloo Hek, after his recent visit to Kerala, where he has discussed with the Kerala government the prospects of Ayush in promotion of tourism, “Meghalaya government would like to take up Ayush treatment in a big way like Kerala and the idea is to attract more tourists to the state,” said Hek. Uttarakhand has immense possibilities in yoga and adventure tourism activities, said Union Minister of State for tourism, K J Alphons. “Trekking, river rafting, water sports, paragliding, skiing and bungy jumping are some of the activities with immense potential,” he said while speaking on the sidelines of the Destination Uttarakhand Investors Summit-2018. Ayush app to locate certified yoga teachers and schools

There are hundreds and thousands of yoga instructors ans practitioners in the country and, it is difficult to identify the certified instructors. It is to help people identify the certified instructors that the AYUSH ministry has come up with a mobile-based app to help users locate certified yoga instructors and institutes around them. The app, commissioned by the ministry, regulates alternative systems of medicine, including yoga. The app lists yoga instructors and institutes that have been validated by experts from the Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy (CCRYN) under the ministry. India and the Netherlands to join hands for promoting medical tourism

India to highlight Yoga and Ayurveda to attract more US tourists 

India plans to have road shows to emphasis alternate therapies like Yoga and Ayurveda to attract more tourists form the US. The tourists from US have been one of the largest contributors of income in the tourism industry, UK being the second foreign contributor.  Recently, in the leadership of the tourism minister Alphons Kannanthanam, a road show under the theme ‘Incredible India’ has conducted in New York and Chicago. New Yoga Institute in Kasargod

The state government has expedited the steps to envisage Kerala as the Yoga Capital of India. The ministry has decided to allot fifteen acres of land in Karinthalam village of Kasargod as lease to construct Yoga and Naturopathy Post-graduate Institute. The proposed institute will have facility to accommodate 100 patients. Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy will oversee the construction.

Mass yoga drill by foreign delegates on International Yoga Day

It was a distinctive experience for the participants and spectators, when people from 23 different countries performed ‘yoga asanas’ in harmony. Yoga experts from 23 different countries assembled to perform yoga in Kochi as part of the Yoga Ambassadors Tour, organized by Association of Tourism Trade Organizations India (ATTOI), in association with Kerala Tourism and Ayush Minstry. Apart from the foreign delegates, people from different parts of the state also participated in the mass yoga demonstration.

Yoga naturopathy center will be started in the state – CM

 “Government has been taking necessary steps to start a Yoga naturopathy center with international standards”, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He was inaugurating the event organised by the state government in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, to observe International Yoga Day “Yoga is a form of exercise that helps in keeping several diseases away. It does not belong to any religion. There were efforts underway to hijack Yoga and colour it with religious connotations.  Such efforts should be discouraged”, he added.
