India to add 10 million travel & tourism jobs in a decade
According to World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), travel & tourism in 2017 in India supported 41 million jobs and is expected to rise to 43 million in 2018, and a further 53 million in 2028. India will add around 10 million jobs in the travel and tourism sector by 2028 said the WTTC report. India is currently the seventh largest travel and tourism economy in the world. One in five of all new jobs created globally in 2017 are attributable to Travel & Tourism: WTTC study
WTTC’s annual Economic Impact Research shows that Travel & Tourism was responsible for the creation of 7 million new jobs worldwide. The report also shows that 2017 was a bumper year for the global Travel & Tourism sector, which grew at 4.6 per cent, 50 per cent faster than the global economy as a whole (3 per cent growth during 2017). “Travel & Tourism creates jobs, drives economic growth and helps build better societies.
