The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), has announced that its highly anticipated 21st Global Summit will now take place in Manila, Philippines, from 20-22 April 2022 – just a month from its original March date. U.S. Travel & Tourism saw labor shortfall of almost 700,000 in 2021
A new analysis of staff shortages by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which represents the global private Travel & Tourism sector, reveals the sector realized a U.S. labor shortfall of almost 700,000 workers during 2021. According to the report, the outlook for 2022 is only slightly more positive, with approximately 480,000 direct* U.S. Travel & Tourism jobs, or one in 13 positions, predicted to go unfilled next year. New research from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) reveals the recovery of the Asia Pacific Travel & Tourism sector has soared ahead of many regions in the world with a year on year growth of more than 36%. Before the pandemic struck, Asia Pacific’s Travel & Tourism sector’s contribution to GDP represented more than US$ 3 trillion (9.9% of the region’s economy). More than 400 destinations around the world now proudly hold the World Travel & Tourism Council’s ‘Safe Travels’ stamp, with New Zealand, Switzerland, and Oman among the latest major destinations to adopt the globally recognised stamp. U.S. must approve AstraZeneca vaccine to rescue transatlantic travel with UK
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is calling upon the U.S. government to urgently speed up approval of the UK’s AstraZeneca vaccine to help restore vital transatlantic travel. The Centre for Disease Control (CDC), the main health authority in the U.S., this week approved the Pfizer vaccine, however, it still does not currently recognise AstraZeneca as an approved COVID-19 vaccine. Land of Origins: The next big thing in Global Tourism
Enchanting tourist attractions, unique diplomatic stature and a thriving airliner have placed Ethiopia, Land of Origins, on top of the world when it comes to tourism growth. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) annual review, the country saw the highest tourism growth in the world (48.6), surpassing the global average growth rate of 3.9 per cent and the African average of 5.6 per cent. Ethiopia records largest growth in travel & tourism globally at 48.6% in 2018
Ethiopia’s travel and tourism economy grew by 48.6 per cent in 2018, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) annual review of the economic impact and social importance of the sector. In 2018, travel and tourism contributed BIRR 202 billion USD 7.4 billion to the country’s economy, an increase of BIRR 59 billion(USD 2.2bn) on 2017. The sector now represents 9.4 per cent of Ethiopia’s total economy. Jamaica to reinstate ties with Japanese tourism market
Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica Tourism Minister will be participating in the Tourism Expo Japan 2018 and Visit Japan Travel & MICE Mart 2018, which happening from 20th to 23rd September 2018 in Tokyo. The ministry plan to strengthen ties with Japan on a sustainable manner and to increase the visitors from Japan to Jamaica. “Twenty years ago, Jamaica received around 20,000 Japanese visitors per year, but that has since decreased to roughly 2,000 per annum, due to the economic slowdown in Japan and other factor,” said Bartlet. India to add 10 million travel & tourism jobs in a decade
According to World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), travel & tourism in 2017 in India supported 41 million jobs and is expected to rise to 43 million in 2018, and a further 53 million in 2028. India will add around 10 million jobs in the travel and tourism sector by 2028 said the WTTC report. India is currently the seventh largest travel and tourism economy in the world.
