The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has welcomed the call of its sister UN agency World Health Organization (WHO) for restrictions on travel to be lifted or eased. Citing the varied global responses to the emergence of the of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, WHO has reiterated that restrictions on travel are not effective in suppressing the international spread. WTTC Launches Mental Health Guidelines for the Travel & Tourism Sector
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has launched its new mental health guidelines for the Travel & Tourism sector, which have been compiled to support businesses of all sizes to support the mental health of their employees. The Mental Health Guidelines build on the Diversity & Inclusion Guidelines released by WTTC in 2020, going one step deeper to focus on mental wellbeing. Indefinite travel ban is futile, says WHO
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said international travel ban cannot stay in place indefinitely, and countries should do more to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus within their borders. A surge of infections had prompted countries to reimpose some travel restrictions in recent days. UNWTO and WHO to work together to combat COVID-19
The solidarity of the tourism sector and the individual tourists is a key factor in minimising the spread and impact of COVID-19, the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have said. UNWTO secretary general Zurab Pololikashvili has stated that the COVID-19 outbreak is first and foremost a public health issue. “UNWTO is following the lead of WHO, with whom we have enjoyed an excellent working relationship.” Pololikashvili is in Geneva, leading a high level delegation to the WHO’s headquarters to further advance the two agencies’ coordinated response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Ministry of AYUSH and WHO Working Group meet on benchmarks for training in Yoga
Ministry of AYUSH and WHO has been jointly organizing a three days Working Group Meeting for reviewing the WHO document ‘Benchmarks for Training in Yoga, from 26-28 February, 2019 at New Delhi. The meeting is coordinated by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY). WHO is developing Benchmarks Document for Training in Yoga as part of its global strategy to strengthen the quality, safety and effectiveness of Traditional and Complementary Medicine. ലോകത്തെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായ കുപ്പിവെള്ള കമ്പനികളുടെ വെള്ളകുപ്പികളില്‍ ആരോഗ്യത്തിന് ദോഷകരമായ രീതിയില്‍ പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് മാലിന്യത്തിന്‍റെ അംശമുണ്ടെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തല്‍. ഒമ്പത് രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളില്‍ നടത്തിയ പഠനത്തിലാണ് ഞെട്ടിക്കുന്ന വിവരങ്ങള്‍. ന്യൂയോര്‍ക്ക് സ്‌റ്റേറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയിലെ മൈക്രോപ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് റിസേര്‍ച്ചര്‍ ഷെരി മാസണിന്‍റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് പഠനം നടന്നത്. പ്രമുഖ കുപ്പിവെള്ള ബ്രാന്‍ഡുകളിലെ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ വലിയതോതിലുള്ള പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് അംശം ഉണ്ടെന്ന് പഠനം വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. ബ്രസീല്‍, ചൈന, ഇന്ത്യ, ഇന്‍ഡൊനീഷ്യ, കെനിയ, ലെബനന്‍, മെക്‌സിക്കോ, തായ്‌ലാന്‍ഡ്, യുഎസ് എന്നീ രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് 250 കുപ്പിവെള്ളം ശേഖരിച്ചാണ് പഠനം നടത്തിയത്. ഇവിടങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ശേഖരിച്ച 93% സാമ്പിളുകളിലും പ്ലാസ്റ്റികിന്റെ അംശം കണ്ടെത്തി. അക്വാ, അക്വാഫിന, ഡസാനി, എവിയാന്‍,നെസ്ലെ പ്യൂര്‍ ലൈഫ് ,ബിസ് ലേരി,എപുറ, ജെറോള്‍സ്‌റ്റെയ്‌നര്‍,മിനല്‍ബ, വഹാഹ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രമുഖ ബ്രാന്‍ഡുകള്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു. പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് മൂടികള്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കാന്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്കിന്‍റെ വകഭേദമായ പോളി പ്രൊപ്പലിന്‍, നൈലോണ്‍, പോളി എത്തിലിന്‍ ട്രെപ്താലെറ്റ് എന്നിവയാണ് വെള്ളത്തില്‍ കലര്‍ന്നത്. ലഭിച്ചവയില്‍ 65%വും പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് ശകലങ്ങളാണ് പകരം പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് ...
