Six Indian tourist destinations have been included in the UNESCO provisional list
Six important places in India have been inscribed on UNESCO’s provisional World Heritage List. Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel made the announcement. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has handed over to UNESCO a list of nine historic Indian sites to be inscribed on the World Heritage List. Six of the sites were selected by UNESCO. Spicejet launches 6 daily flights from Chennai
SpiceJet has announced the launch of six new direct flights connecting Chennai with key pilgrim centres like Varanasi and Shirdi and tourist spots like Port Blair and Bagdogra. All the flights are scheduled to commence from January 10, 2019, except the one on Chennai-Bagdogra route which will start operations from February 11, 2019. The daily direct flights introduced by the airline will operate on the Chennai-Varanasi, Chennai-Shirdi and Chennai-Bagdogra routes. The airline has also introduced an additional frequency on the Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai route which will be operational from January 10 to February 10, 2019. NMCG is planning to set up ‘Ganga Museums’ on the bank of the river
The central ministry is planning to set up a Ganga Exhibition and a Ganga Museum to showcase the history and mythology and the importance of the sacred river in the livelihood of the people living around it. It was announced by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), as part of the Ganga Rejuvenation programme. The central museum will be set up in Delhi and there will be regional museums in different states. IndiGo introduces 4 new routes; adds 24 new flights across India
IndiGo has announced the launch of 24 new flights on its network. The airline has introduced four new routes and will operate its first flight between Ahmedabad and Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad and Varanasi, Hyderabad and Patna and Kolkata and Surat. All 24 new services will commence from September 2018. IndiGo will provide a second flight in Agartala-Guwahati, Hyderabad-Guwahati and Kolkata-Nagpur routes. Varanasi’s Rs 169 cr multi-modal terminal by November
Inland Waterways Authority of India is planning to construct a Rs 169.59 crore multi-modal terminal (MMT) at Varanasi. The MMT built under Jal Marg Vikas project is set to be completed by November 2018, which would be a major landmark for the project. The construction of the Rs 280. 90 crore MMT at Sahibganj is to be completed by May 2019, and the one at Haldia, being constructed at a cost of Rs 517.36 crore, is scheduled to be completed by December 2019.
