Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his approval for declaring Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh as an international airport, during a cabinet meeting. Its elevation as an international airport will help the state to grow its tourism fortunes. Kushinagar Airport is located in the vicinity of several Buddhist Cultural Sites like Sravasti, Kapilvastu, and Lumbini. Kushinagar itself is a Buddhist cultural site. Uttar Pradesh to give facelift to Pilibhit Tiger Reserve
The Uttar Pradesh government is all set to upgrade facilities at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) in order to attract more tourists in the coming years. One gate would be constructed at the junction point of Pilibhit-Basti national highway, the second one would be near Mustafabad forest guest house and the third on the Pilibhit-Mahof forest range road, IANS said in a report. Almost all Indian states are concerned about the immediate future of the travel and tourism industry, which has been badly hit by the Covid-19 epidemic, but hardly any of them have come up with decisive steps. Airport Authority of India to take over Kushinagar Airport in Uttar Pradesh
Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5th March 2019 with State Government of Uttar Pradesh for taking over the development and operationsalization of existing Kushinagar Airport, which belongs to State Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. It was revealed by AAI in a press release. Kumbha Mela 2019 to be a global event: Tourism Minister
KJ Alphons, Union Tourism Minister for State said on Monday that the government is planning to launch a campaign for promoting Kumbh Mela across the country with a tag line ‘Chalo Kumbh Chalo’. The campaign may include releasing advertisements at major international airports of the country and organising the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2019 in Varanasi to lure the Pravasi Bharatiya delegates. Uttar Pradesh launches 24X7 helpline for tourists
With an aim to offer better security for the tourists visiting the state, the Uttar Pradesh tourism department has launched its first 24×7 phone helpline (18601801364). The helpline will assist the tourists in giving information about tourism centers, lodging of complaints, etc. The tourism department hopes that the helpline will come handy if a tourist faces an issue anywhere in the state. There will also be arrangements to record the incoming calls on the helpline and the police, and administration along with other departments have been appointed to redress all the complaints. ‘New Ayodhya’ Township to boost tourism
Uttar Pradesh government is planning to develop a 500-acre ‘New Ayodhya’ township on the banks of the river Sarayu. ‘New Ayodhya’, which is being planned on a stretch of land between the villages of Majha Barhata and Jaisingh Mau near the ancient city of Ayodhya, will be constructed at an estimated initial cost of around Rs 3.5 billion (Rs 350 crores). The new township will be adjoining the Lucknow-Gorakhpur expressway and will be close to the banks of the Sarayu, a tributary of the river Ganga. Govt keen to promote international tourism to Mathura: UP min
The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to exploit the rich cultural heritage of Brijbhumi to promote tourism among international tourists. ‘Basement tourism’ in Lucknow’s Chhatar Manzil
The Uttar Pradesh’s archaeological department is conducting excavations at Chhatar Manzil and Kothi Farhat Baksh, and said it will be open for tourists once the excavations works are completed. The restoration of the newly excavated storey, which was lying buried under the current structures, would be planned so as to facilitate the movement of tourists thereby giving the visitors a glimpse of the ‘buried’ past of the city.
