International tourist arrivals grew by 7 per cent in 2017 to a total of 1,322 million, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer. This strong momentum is expected to continue in 2018 at a rate of 4 per cent-5 per cent. Shanzhong Zhu takes charge as UNWTO Exe Director
UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili has appointed Shanzhong Zhu as Executive Director of UNWTO. Zhu, a Chinese national, began his two-year term on 1 January 2018. Zhu joined UNWTO in 2014 as Executive Director. Prior to his appointment, he was Vice Chairman of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).
