Turkey has imposed a 14-day quarantine on passengers from eight countries, including India, to prevent the spread of covid-19. Turkish Airlines has announced that it will impose quarantine for 14 days for people from eight countries, including Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, and Nepal. Passengers traveling to these countries within the last 14 days must submit a negative result of the PCR test conducted a maximum of 72 hours prior to entry back into the country. Jazeera Airways to fly from Ahmedabad to Bodrum via Kuwait
Kuwaiti airline, Jazeera Airways will start flying from Ahmedabad to Bodrum, Turkey via Kuwait starting June 20. The inaugural flight will depart from Ahmedabad every Thursday at 5:35 am (IST) and will return to Ahmedabad every Monday. Economy class on the flight will cost around Rs 18,700. Kuwait’s leading low-cost airline, operating regionally and internationally, celebrated one year of operations from its dedicated Terminal 5 (T5) at the Kuwait International Airport, marking one of the few commercial terminals to be operated by a private airline in the world. Spain Tourism experiences slow growth, as rivals recover
Tourism sector of Spain saw slow growth in 2018, as the rival countries like Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia recovered during the time. It was revealed by a report by industry lobby group Exceltur The sector ratcheted up USD 162 billion in sales, 2 per cent more than in 2017, as per a recent report; while that growth was slower than in previous years. This 12,000-year-old Turkish town to be submerged in a couple of months
Turkey’s Hasankeyf and its surrounding limestone cliffs are home to thousands of human-made caves, 300 medieval monuments and a unique canyon ecosystem. But, the 12,000-year-old town is doomed to disappear in the coming months. An artificial lake, part of the Ilisu hydroelectric dam project, will swallow it up. The dam has been built further downstream the Tigris. Turkish e-visa to be procured before leaving India
Indian passport holders, who are eligible for Turkish e-visa, will have to obtain their visas before their departure to Turkey as the e-visa kiosks are not operational at airports in Istanbul. The Embassy of Republic of Turkey had recently scrapped its policy of visa-on-arrival for a number of nationalities, including India. Indian citizens are eligible for e-visa if they have a valid US, UK, Ireland and Schengen visa. New Istanbul airport opens, launches first flight to Baku
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has officially opened the first phase of the new Istanbul Airport on 29 October – Turkish National Day. The aircraft of Turk Hava Yolları company operating the first flight from the new Istanbul airport has landed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The airport which spans around 823 million square feet in size, is poised to become the world’s largest airport when completed in 2028. Turkey to stop visa on arrival from October 28
The Republic of Turkey said it will discontinue the visa on arrival service from October 28, to a number of nationalities, including Indians. Visitors will need to take a visa before reaching Turkey as the e-visa kiosks at Istanbul airport will not generate visa from the last week of October. Citizens from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives and a 100 other countries are eligible for e-visa, which needs to be obtained before you start the journey. Istabul, Turkey Turkey’s currency, lira has reached an all-time low against the pound, stimulating a rush in inbound tourists from UK. Lira reached 0.15 against pound sterling, resulted from a continuous decline during the past twelve months. The decrease in value during this period is around 35 per cent. AAHAR 2018 kick starts in Delhi
Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the 33rd edition of ‘AAHAR 2018’, a 4-day event on International Food and Hospitality at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event is organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), in association with Agricultural Processed Food Products Development Authority (APEDA), and Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
