The Philippines has extended the ban on travelers from 10 countries, including India, until September 5. The government told reporters on Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte had approved the extension of the travel ban. The move comes amid a threat of a Delta virus outbreak. People from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia will be banned from traveling from September 1 to September 5, an official spokesman said. Sri Lanka bans travelers from India. The Director General of Sri Lanka Civil Aviation has said that passengers from India will not be allowed to land in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an increase in covid-19 cases. About 2,000 new cases have been reported in the last five days. From early to mid-April, an average of 200 cases were reported here. US, UK and Canada governments advise their Citizens to abstain from travelling to Sri Lanka on the event of political instability and turmoil in the country. The advisories also warns those who are already in Sri Lanka to keep away from demonstrations and protests, to stay safe. The Idukki district administration in Kerala has lifted the ban on Munnar, and Thekkady, including other tourist destinations. Effective from October 9 (Tuesday), travellers can access any of the tourist destinations including the Neelakurinji gardens. Maldives leaders likely to get EU travel ban
The political leaders of Maldives, who are close to the President, may get travel bans and asset freeze, as per the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union. In a statement the EU said those who are responsible for undermining the rule of law or obstructing and inclusive political solution in the Maldives as well as persons and entities responsible for human rights violations will get the sanctions.
