Tourism Malaysia has launched the much ‘VisitMalaysia 2020’ campaign at a three-city roadshow covering Amritsar, Mumbai and Hyderabad. “We are happy to host VisitMalaysia 2020 roadshow in Mumbai because this will enable us to do a quality networking with the travel trade fraternity and to boost Indian tourist footfall to Malaysia. Malaysia Airports and Tourism Malaysia collaborate to boost tourism
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd and Tourism Malaysia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Joint International Development Tourism Programme (JITDP). The MoU looks into possible cooperation between the two parties especially in the area of international tourism promotion. The initiatives planned include airlines collaboration, the operation of inaugural and charter flights, as well as high-yield niche tourism promotion. Malaysia launches ‘Malaysia Fantastic Deals’ to lure India tourists
Tourism Malaysia has launched the “Malaysia Fantastic Deals” package to promote more value-for-money holiday packages to Malaysia for tourists from India. The campaign was officiated by Tuan Syed Yahya Syed Othman, Director of Package Development Division, Tourism Malaysia, and and Manoj Mehta, Country Manager of Malindo Air. The initiative sees Tourism Malaysia in partnership with Malindo Air and several popular hotels and a restaurant in Malaysia to offer a total of five packages catered specifically to the India market. MATTA demands to abolish Tourism Tax
As a step to improve the tourism sector of Malaysia, the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has strengthened calls for abolishing Tourism Tax (TTx). The tax was implemented on September last year for foreigners at a flat rate of 10 Malaysian Ringgit (RM10) per room for a night at hotels and other private lodgings. However, MATTA believes that the tourism tax had a reverse impact on tourism industry, especially in the case of price sensitive tourists as well as long-haul travellers who like long holidays in the country. Malaysia Tourism launches new app for the safety of tourists
Tourism Malaysia, on a mission towards their tourist’s safety, had launched their latest mobile application named My Tourist Assist’ (MyTA). The app is available for both Android and ios devices. “The app is designed by digital technology company, Jana Tiga Holdings and it can work even without an internet connection,” said Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Tourism Malaysia director-general. “This app allows tourists to get assistance from the authorities in case of an emergency situation, whereby an emergency or SOS button will connect the user directly to the authorities,” added Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab.
