Tourism sector has created around 14 million jobs in the country – KJ Alphons

The Tourism sector of India has created nearly 14 million jobs in the country, employing all sections of the society, in the last four years, said KJ Alphons, Union Tourism Minister. No-deal Brexit will adversely affect tourism sector

While the heated discussion are going on in favour of and against Brexit, the Independent predicts loss of around 700,000 tourism jobs across Europe, once Brexit become reality. As per estimations by The World Travel & Tourism Council, the UK would lose 308,000, while 399,000 positions in other parts of Europe would be in danger. One in five of all new jobs created globally in 2017 are attributable to Travel & Tourism: WTTC study

WTTC’s annual Economic Impact Research shows that Travel & Tourism was responsible for the creation of 7 million new jobs worldwide. The report also shows that 2017 was a bumper year for the global Travel & Tourism sector, which grew at 4.6 per cent, 50 per cent faster than the global economy as a whole (3 per cent growth during 2017). “Travel & Tourism creates jobs, drives economic growth and helps build better societies.
