Union Minister for Tourism Shri G Kishan Reddy inaugurated tourist facilitation center and public utilities and changing room on Colva Beach in South Goa today. It was constructed as part of Development of Coastal Circuit II projects under the Swadesh Darshan scheme by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Meghalaya’s inbound tourism recorded 80 per cent growth in a decade
Tathagata Roy, Meghalaya Governer, said that various government initiatives and the hospitality of locals have attracted more tourists to the state from other parts of India and abroad. He was delivering his speech in the state Assembly on the first day of budget. “Meghalaya Tourism has witnessed a massive inflow of both international and domestic tourists in the last ten years. Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons K J has laid the foundation stone for the first phase of Swadesh Darshan development works at places associated with Sree Narayana Guru. Alphons has inaugurated the Sivagiri Tirthankar Circuit at a function held at the Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala. Rs 727.16 crore has been sanctioned for development of 41 religious sites under the Prasad scheme till now, said Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism K J Alphons. For development of tourism infrastructure in the country, the Ministry of Tourism launched the schemes of PRASHAD-Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive and Swadesh Darshan – Integrated Development of Theme-Based Tourist Circuits and in the year 2014-15. The Ministry of Tourism has sanctioned the project “Development of Ahmedabad- Rajkot- Porbandar-Bardoli- Dandi” in Gujarat under Heritage Circuit theme of Swadesh Darshan scheme in the year 2016-17 for Rs 93.48 crore. The components sanctioned for Dandi under the above project include Tourist Facilitation Centre, Site Illumination, Development of Parking, Landscaping, Handicraft store/Khadi Exhibition Centre, Basic Tourist Amenities like public toilets, drinking water ATMs etc. “The project is under implementation stage. Rs 5873.26 cr sanctioned for 73 projects under Swadesh Darshan till date
Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the central Tourism Ministry has sanctioned 73 projects with Central Financial Assistance for Rs 5873.26 crores covering 30 States/UT Administrations till date. “The sanctioning of new projects under Swadesh Darshan scheme is a continuous process. Projects for development under the scheme are identified in consultations with the State Governments/UT Administrations and are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier. In a move to increase the tourism footfalls in the state, government of Punjab is giving emphasize to heritage tourism. As per reports, heritage sites the in the state have been witnessing increased tourism activities in recent years. “The Heritage Street in Amritsar has really increased the footfall of tourists many times. Pilgrimage tourism in Kerala gets Rs 91.72 crore push
Ananthapura Lake Temple, Kasargod The Union Ministry has approved projects worth Rs 91.72 crore for the development of Pilgrimage tourism in Kerala. The fund will be used for the infrastructure development of 147 pilgrimage centers of the state. The proposals submitted by the Kerala tourism department have been approved by the Union Ministry of Tourism in principle. As per Kadakampally Surendran, the Kerala Tourism Minister, detailed project plans will be submitted to the Union Ministry in due course. Sree Narayana Guru circuit to boost spiritual tourism in Kerala
Sree Narayana Guru The union ministry of tourism has approved in principle the Sree Narayana Guru Spiritual Tourism Circuit proposed by Kerala Tourism. The project will link all the places related to Sree Narayana Guru, the social reformer of Kerala. The Tourism Ministry has also sanctioned Rs 70 crore for the project by including it under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme. Uttarakhand seeks support to develop Buddhist, Ramayana & Mahabharata Circuits
Minister of Tourism for Government of Uttarakhand, Satpal Maharaj has sought support of Central Tourism Ministry to develop new tourism circuits around Buddhist travel and destinations associated with Ramayana and Mahabharata in the state.
