Andhra Pradesh envisages community based tourism projects
Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) is planning to enhance community based tourism in the capital city, Amaravati. Under this project the residents of a region invite tourists to visit their communities and provide them with overnight accommodation. APCRDA also plans to have feasible tourism projects in the region; in public sector and also private-public partnership (PPP). “The master plan will be drafted with the aim to promote community-based tourism. It will, however, focus equally on conservation of natural resources and their optimum utilization. It will also prepare guidelines to fill the gap in public infrastructure,” said an official. ... As per the survey conducted by Booking.com, about 97 per cent of the Indian travellers focus on sustainable travel approach. The survey further shows that the tourist wasn’t back off to pay the additional cost for their holidays, that supports sustainable practices in accommodation and transportation. UNWTO calls for videos as part of Smart Destinations Conference

Booking.com announces 10 start-ups for its Sustainable Tourism programme
Booking.com, one of the world’s largest e-commerce companies and digital technology leader, announced the 10 sustainable tourism startups that will be joining the 2018 Booking Booster Programme in Amsterdam in May 2018. Building upon its successful launch in 2017, the three-week accelerator programme consists of a series of lectures, hands-on workshops and coaching, culminating in a final pitch to receive a scaling grant of up to €500k from Booking.com’s €2 million fund in order to help support the next stage of the startups’ projected growth.
