Virtual Reality (VR) entertainment in flights soon
KT Corp., South Korea’s largest telecommunications company, will develop virtual reality (VR) entertainment service for air passengers jointly with Jin Air and Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunications (HIST). KT signed an agreement with Jin Air, the only widebody low-cost carrier operation in South Korea, and HIST for the new VR service optimized for air safety, security and other special in-flight needs. South Korea prepares for a tourism season at home
Even though the European Union (EU) announced on Tuesday that South Korea was on a list of 14 countries allowed to travel there, international travel still looks difficult. Anyone arriving in South Korea from overseas is required to undergo a strict two-week quarantine, either at home or at a government-run facility. They cannot leave their homes and are monitored by government officials, while those in hotels pay about US$100 per night, and there are no visits to cafés, bars, gyms or gardens. Korea Tourism Organisation signs MoU with OTOAI
The Korea tourism organisation (KTO) has signed an MOU with Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) to boost outbound traffic numbers from India to South Korea with a special focus on MICE. With this MOU, otoai will prioritise South Korea as a Focus Country for 2019. A book, titled, ‘Indian Friendly Restaurants in Korea’, was released on the occasion. India starts visa on arrival for South Koreans
After Japan, India has started granting visa on arrival to South Korean nationals. The move is expected to boost tourist arrivals and business visitors to India. The facility to South Korean citizens include double entry visit for a period not exceeding 60 days for business, tourism, conference and medical purposes for entry through six designated international airports – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Around 2 lakh Indian visas are issued to South Korean nationals every year, of which 80 per cent are tourists. On an average, 600 South Korean nationals arrive in Delhi daily. India and Korea sign MoU for cooperation in Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Government for the Republic of Korea for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism in New Delhi today. South Korea’s First Lady Kim Jung-Sook will be the chief guest at the Deepotsav in Ayodhya this Diwali. Cabinet approves MoU between India and Korea in the field of Tourism
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Korea for strengthening cooperation in the field of Tourism. Visa free travel to Myanmar for travellers from China, Japan and South Korea
Meiktila-Taung Gyi Elephant Camp Tourists from China, Japan and South Korea will be able to travel to Myanmar without a visa from October 1, 2018 onwards. The new approach, which aims to encourage tourism to Myanmar, was announced by Vice President U Henry Van Thio at the Myanmar Tourism Conference. The visa free entry will be introduced as a one-year trial. Myanmar currently does not require tourist visas for travellers from eight fellow members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Thomas Cook ties up with Seoul for tourism promotion

Border tourism boosted by meeting of Korean leaders
Ever since South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met at the Joint Security Area of the Demilitarized Zone, it is reported that tourism to security-related spots near the border has been booming. The number of visitors has to these sites has gone up to 1,500-3,000 per day when compared to 1,200-2,300 tourists per day the same time last year. South Korea offers multiple-entry visa to Indonesians
From now on Indonesians can afford multiple entries to South Korea within five years, with each visit allowed to last up to 30 days. The new visa policy is expected to increase the number of Indonesian visitors to South Korea. The applicant should be a civil servant, a government official or a staff member of an Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise, as evidenced by a certificate of employment and has visited South Korea at least once, as validated by a photocopy of the old visa in the passport. South Korea issued Travel Alert for Ecuador
A travel alert has been issued by South Korea for its citizens regarding travelling to Ecuador, on the occasion of a severe security breach in some parts of the South American country. According to media reports, a travel advisory is imposed over cities of San Lorenzo and Eloy Alfaroin in Ecuador along with the travel alert. South Korea further declared orders for citizens living in Ecuador to avoid local trips and called back their citizens until the situation is under control. Meanwhile, in January Ecuador government has ordered emergency in its two cities, as a result of drug-associated bombing.
South Korea issues visa advisory for Filipino travellers
South Korea announced a change in tourist visa application for Filipinos, following substantial increase in the number of applicants. ‘In the near future, walk-in applicants will no longer be accepted,’ the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines wrote on their Facebook page. Only travel agencies will be allowed to file tourist visa applications on behalf of the travellers. Since the embassy will no longer accept walk-in applicants, it will be designating travel agencies in Philippines to facilitate the application for tourist visa.
