Kerala Tourism has launched a micro website with the details of ecotourism centers in Kerala. Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister inaugurated the website on 27th October 2018. The web site has information of 47 eco-tourism centers and hundreds of details in 35 eco-tourism centers, 75 videos, over 200 images and e-brochures containing more than 30 pages of 10 centers. The website has more than 500 pages. The web site also gives details of various trekking routs, which will be beneficial to adventure lovers. Forest fire engulfed 10 hectares of Silent Valley buffer zone, triggering panic and causing extensive damages to trees, shrubs and the animal population. Authorities said the massive fire broke out in the buffer zone was controlled by Wednesday afternoon. Frequent fires during the summers is a common scene in Silent Valley. Though the authorities have taken measures to curb the issue by conducting workshop to control the fire, they couldn’t control the fire from spreading to the interiors of the forest. വേനല്‍ കടുത്തതോടെ സൈലന്‍റ് വാലി ബഫര്‍സോണ്‍ മലനിരകളില്‍ കാട്ടുതീ പടര്‍ന്നു. കിലോമീറ്ററുകളോളം പടര്‍ന്നു പിടിച്ച കാട്ടുതീ വന്യജീവികള്‍ക്കും ജൈവ സമ്പത്തിനും നാശമുണ്ടാക്കി. മലമുകളിലെ ഏറ്റവും മുകളിലാണ് തീ പടര്‍ന്നത്. പാറക്കെട്ടുകളും പുല്ലും നിറഞ്ഞ പ്രദേശമാണിത്. കാട്ടുതീ കൂടുതല്‍ പടര്‍ന്നാല്‍ മണ്ണൊലിപ്പും മലയിടിച്ചും ഉണ്ടാകാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുണ്ട്. തീ നിയന്ത്രണവിധേയമാക്കാന്‍ വനം വകുപ്പ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും നിലവിലെ സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ അപര്യാപ്തമാണ്. പത്തിലധികം ഹെക്ടര്‍ വനഭൂമി അഗ്നിക്കിരയായെന്ന് അധികൃതര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. തീ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാന്‍ വനം വകുപ്പ് നടപടി ഊര്‍ജിതമാക്കുമെന്ന് ഡി.എഫ്.ഒ വി.പി. ജയപ്രകാശ് പറഞ്ഞു.
