5.9 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia
An earthquake measuring over 5.9 magnitude on Richter scale hits the Moluccas Sea, offshore Indonesia earlier today. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake was noticed under 36.5 km northwest of Kota Ternate at around 4.30 am on Monday. No damage to life and property was recorded by the authorities. Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre hasn’t issued any tsunami alert, with respect to the quake. Previously Indonesia, has the history of a huge undersea earthquake in 2004, causing a massive destruction of life and property. 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook japan
An earthquake measuring over 6.1 magnitude shook western Japan earlier today. The quake wounded over five people and collapsing buildings and roads. The tremor shook the western Honshu located 96 km north of Hiroshima. Five persons are reported to be injured. No other severe casualties were reported other than damages to properties. Meanwhile, the nuclear power station located nearby the spot, were reported safe by the authorities. Around 150 houses lost regular water supply and electricity.
