Crowds to see Idukki; yesterday alone, 3,000 people visited the Idukki Dam
Tourist influx to the tourist destinations in Idukki district. In the last two days, more than double the number of people reached various centers in the Idukki district. Over 4,100 people visited the dam on Saturday and Sunday. Of these, 3,000 were visited on Sundays alone. On the day of Thiruvonam, 1750 people came to Rajamalai in Eravikulam National Park. Munnar, Vagamon, Thekkady, and Ramakkalmedu were also busy these days. The crisis-stricken tourism sector also got relief from the arrival of tourists. KSRTC launches new site-seeing service to the High Range
Following the success of KSRTC’s Munnar Sightseeing Package, KSRTC is ready to test the Sightseeing model in Idukki. The new plan will connect the major tourist destinations in the High Range. The new plans are aimed at resolving the financial crisis. The service will start from Kumily at 8 am and reach Parunthumpara, Vagamon, Ayyappan Kovil suspension bridge, Anchuruli Falls, Ramakkalmedu, and Chellarkovil at 6.00 pm. Ready to walk through the tunnel in the dark?
Anchuruli tunnel; This tunnel was constructed in 1974 by the Kerala State Electricity Board to carry water from Irattayar Dam to Idukki Dam. Off-road drivers may soon get badges
As part of regulating the tourism activity and ensuring safety of visitors, the authorities have decided to give badges to the drivers of multi-utility vehicles (MUVs) offering off-road safaris to Kolukkumala in Idukki district of Kerala. A meeting called by Devikulam sub collector V R Premkumar had directed the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) to inspect the condition of MUVs offering such services in Idukki. The meeting also decided to operate MUV safari at Kolukumala under the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC).
