In a stimulus to the tourism sector in Odisha, large hotel brands such as Taj Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, ITC Hotels and Crown Plaza have come forward to start their hotels in the state. Taj Hotel “Taj Hotel is coming up with a large commercial complex. Similarly, we are hopeful that ITC’s property will be ready in the next six months. In order to enhance inbound foreign tourism, the Odisha tourism department is joining hands with the major state-based hoteliers to tap the franchise business model with leading brands like Hilton Group, Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Radisson Hotels, Taj Group and Starwood. Radisson Hotel Group, which has about 90 operational hotels in India, is eyeing religious destinations in the country and aims to reach 200 properties by 2020 in this market. “One of our core strategies is to grow in religious destinations. We are finding these destinations stable for us, such as Haridwar, Varanasi, Katra, Tirupati and we will plan in more destinations,” said Raj Rana, CEO, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group. The Radisson Hotel Group has unveiled plans to expand its portfolio to more than 200 hotels in operation and under development by 2022 in South Asia. The group signed the Radisson Blu Resort Visakhapatnam, Radisson Panipat City Centre and Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Agra in the first quarter of 2018.
