As part of a new facility to ease visitors and skip the queue at Qutub Minar, tourists can now purchase tickets online at a discounted rate or just by scanning the QR code through their mobile cameras. Tickets can be booked at asi.payyoumoney.com. Tickets for foreigners is Rs 600, if bought online or by scanning QR codes, they will get it at Rs 550 and for Indians a ticket costs Rs 40, but after discount it will be Rs 35. Augmented reality app in Korean to promote heritage sites in India
An augmented reality-based mobile application has been launched in Korean language to offer visual travel assistance to tourists from South Korea. Qutub Minar named Best Monument for Differently-abled
Qutub Minar has bagged the top award in the differently-abled friendly monument category at the National Tourism Awards. The awards were presented by Union Tourism Minister K J Alphons at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan. Qutbu’d-Din Aibak laid the foundation of the Minar in AD 1199, to which subsequent additions were made by his successor Iltutmish and Firoz Shah Tughlak. The 73-metre tower has five distinct storeys, each marked by a projecting balcony. More sites to be included under adopt a heritage
It was just days back that one of the major cement companies in India, Dalmia Cements, adopting the Red Fort under the Adopt a Heritage project. Though it has created some sparks across the country, the ministry is going ahead with its plans to continue the project to the selected 95 heritage site. Colva Beach, Goa The Ministry of Tourism has identified ten prominent tourist sites for development into iconic tourist destinations in the country. The plan was announced during the Budget Announcements of 2018-19. The ministry has identified the sites based on the criteria of footfall, regional distribution, potential for development and ease of implementation.
