Qatar Visa Center was inaugurated by Mohammed Khater Al Khater, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of India, in New Delhi. The opening ceremony was attended by Major Abdullah Khalifa Al Mohannadi, Director of Department of Visa Support Services, Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar. Qatar has achieved remarkable improvement in road safety during 2018. It was announced by Director-General of Traffic Major General Mohamed Saad al-Kharji, the National Traffic Safety Committee secretary Brigadier Mohamed Abdullah al-Maliki and Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) Statistical Analysis Office head Brigadier Ibrahim Saad al-Sulaiti in press conference on Sunday. Qatar has become the most open country in the Middle East and the 8th most open in the world in terms of visa facilitation. The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recently updated its visa openness rankings, confirming Qatar’s recent visa facilitation improvements including allowing nationals of 88 countries to enter Qatar visa-free and free-of-charge. With an aim to educate the travel trade on Qatar’s tourism offerings, Qatar Tourism Authority has recently conducted their first ever workshop at St Regis in Mumbai. Targeting Indian tourists, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has opened a representative office in Mumbai. Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), as part of raising the inbound tourism arrivals to the nation, had opened new tourism office at Toronto in Canada. The main propaganda put forward by TAT is to increase the number of Canadian visitors to Thailand. Previously, there were 238,000 Canadian tourist arrivals were marked annually, in which the authorities aim to increase the number to over 5,00,000 for the coming years. If the Gulf investors are moving ahead with their plans to dig a 60 kilometre-long water canal alongside the border with Qatar, chances are high that Qatar could be turned into an island.
