Petra aims to attract one million visitors
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Developmental Region of Petra, Dr Sulaiman Al-Farajat has said that the authority is seeking concerted efforts and partnership with all parties concerned with tourism to reach one million visitors during the current year. Tourism revenues in Jordan surpass $5 billion in 2018
Mount Nebo, Jordan The Jordan tourism revenues have surpassed the $5-billion mark in 2018, marking an 8 per cent increase from last year’s $4.6 billion, according to data released by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ). Tourism revenue of Jordan shows increase during the first 11 months
Tourism Ministry of Jordan revealed on Monday that the revenue from tourism has reached USD 4.87 billion during the first 11 months of 2018. The revenue from tourism was USD 4.6 billion in 2017, while in 2016 it was USD 4.1 billion, as per records of the Central Bank of Jordan. As per the monthly statistical bulletin of the ministry, the number of inbound tourists during the month of November 2018 is showing an increase of 40.1 per cent, when compared to same period of 2017. Tourists evacuated from Petra following flash floods
Flash floods caused by heavy rain across Jordan have killed eleven people and forced hundreds of tourists to seek higher ground in the kingdom’s ancient city of Petra, as per the government spokesperson. About two dozen people were injured and dozens more evacuated from their homes in several locations in the kingdom, as floodwaters rose rapidly.
