South Asia’s largest hospitality company, Indian Hotels Company Ltd ( IHCL)  has announced the signing of three Taj hotels, out of which two would be in Kolkata and one in Patna. The new hotels are built in partnership with the Ambuja- Neotia group who has already partnered with IHCL for two other hotels in Darjeeling and Gangtok. Combined these five projects will add up to a total of 500 rooms. With the addition of these hotels, IHCL will have 23 hotels in nine states of Eastern India across different brands. Ministry of Tourism under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme has identified Tirthankar Circuit as one of the fifteen thematic circuits for development in the country. All the sites associated with Jainism are covered under this circuit. The project is under implementation and Ministry has released Rs 26.19 crores for the project. Ministry has sanctioned the project-Development of Tirthankar Circuit: Vaishali-Arrah-Masad-Patna-Rajgir-Pawapuri-Champapuri in Bihar for Rs 52.39 crores in 2016-17. Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Patna The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved the project for construction of a 5.634 km long new 4 – lane bridge across river Ganga, 38 meters on upstream side of the existing Mahatma Gandhi Setu (MG Setu), along with approaches on NH-19 at Patna in the State of Bihar. The Indian Hotels Company is planning to spend Rs 180-200 crore to revamp budget brand Ginger Hotels. The estimated cost, as per ET reports, is Rs 8-10 lakh per key. The company is planning to renovate hotels located in key markets over the next two years and is evaluating monetising its assets to fund the proposed renovation. Six assets are being considered for the sale and lease-back arrangements, said the report. Ginger has recently launched its first prototype hotel with a new brand identity at Panjim, Goa. The central ministry is planning to set up a Ganga Exhibition and a Ganga Museum to showcase the history and mythology and the importance of the sacred river in the livelihood of the people living around it. It was announced by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), as part of the Ganga Rejuvenation programme. The central museum will be set up in Delhi and there will be regional museums in different states. CM Nithish Kumar flag off the bus service between Bihar to Nepal (Photo Courtesy: PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has flagged off the first ever direct bus service between Bihar and Nepal on Tuesday, 11th August 2018. An air-conditioned deluxe bus will link two cities in Bihar – Patna and Bodh Gaya; and two in Nepal – Kathmandu and Janakpur. “This bus service will further strengthen the relations between India and Nepal. IndiGo has announced the launch of 24 new flights on its network. The airline has introduced four new routes and will operate its first flight between Ahmedabad and Bhubaneshwar, Ahmedabad and Varanasi, Hyderabad and Patna and Kolkata and Surat. All 24 new services will commence from September 2018. IndiGo will provide a second flight in Agartala-Guwahati, Hyderabad-Guwahati and Kolkata-Nagpur routes.
