5.9 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia
An earthquake measuring over 5.9 magnitude on Richter scale hits the Moluccas Sea, offshore Indonesia earlier today. According to the US Geological Survey, the quake was noticed under 36.5 km northwest of Kota Ternate at around 4.30 am on Monday. No damage to life and property was recorded by the authorities. Meanwhile, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre hasn’t issued any tsunami alert, with respect to the quake. Previously Indonesia, has the history of a huge undersea earthquake in 2004, causing a massive destruction of life and property.
