OYO sees bookings rise in China

About 70% of OYO’s hotels in China have reopened. The Indian hospitality firm is witnessing a slow rise in bookings in China, which is its second largest global market after India. OYO is present right across China in most of its prominent locations. It has 500,000 rooms in China, contributing 32% of OYO’s global revenue. The company said: “We have seen a consistent rise in occupancy in the last five weeks. OYO to expand ‘Silver Key’ hotels to 19 cities in 2019

Hospitality firm OYO said it will be scaling its executive stays offering SilverKey to 19 cities across the country by the end of 2019. SilverKey hotels are currently operational in 10 cities such as Kolkata, Gurugram, Delhi, Noida, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Thiruvananthapuram, OYO said in a statement. The company has identified corporate travel segment as a key engine of growth for the year and has stepped up engagement in this segment, it added. OYO tries to take over UPSTDC’s loss making propertis

OYO, the budget hotel chain, is seeking the possibility of having the loss making properties of Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department to be added to its chain of hotels. OYO today said to have preliminary discussions with the UP Tourism Department and UP State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) officials in Lucknow. “We are keen to partner with the state tourism department for operating their existing assets and turning them around. India’s OYO to debut in Saudi Arabia

The Indian hospitality chain, Oyo, is all set to enter the Saudi Arabian market.  Other than its regular offerings such as hotel rooms, homestays and townhouses, Oyo is launching a new category for the Saudi market. The new category of offer is expected to tap the huge number of religious tourists visiting the country. FHRAI seeks intervention of tourism ministry

The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) seeks assistance the of tourism ministry to find an amicable settlement of their dispute with online travel aggregators (OTAs) Go-Ibibo and Make My Trip (Go-MMT), and hospitality chain OYO Hotels. FHRAI has written to the Minister of State for Tourism, K J Alphons in this regard.
