Tourist attractions in Ooty are open to tourists from yesterday, officials said. Admission is open to all centers, including the Botanical Garden, Boat House, Doddabetta, and Sim’s Park in Coonoor. Admission will be in compliance with Covid criteria. These centers were first closed in March 2020 due to Covid. It reopened months later but closed again after the second covid expansion. With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the flow of tourists to Kodaikanal, a major tourist destination in Tamil Nadu​. Meanwhile, authorities re-imposed restrictions due to congestion. Permission to visit here was granted since Monday. The government had given permission to tourists to visit Bryant Park, Chettiar Park, and Rose Park under the Department of Horticulture. The Tamil Nadu government had yesterday banned tourists from traveling to the Nilgiris, Kodaikanal, and Yercaud in view of the growing spread of covid. The Ooty Botanical Garden, Rose Garden, and Boat House, which are run by the Department of Tourism, were closed on Tuesday. The lake regularly hosts various competitions during the flower festival. One of the most sought-after tourist destinations in India, Ooty in Tamil Nadu is going to be plastic-free from August 2019 onwards. The Nilgiri District Administration, is in charge of Ooty, has passed a rule to ban the sale of single-use plastics that include water bottles, food items packed in plastic, and soft drinks in the town and the highways leading to the district’s major towns. Ooty is all set for the annual summer festival, which features the very famous flower show, fruit show, rose show and vegetable show. The 123rd edition of the flower show will be held at the botanical garden from May 17 to 21, 2019. The 61st edition of the fruit show will be held at Sim’s Park in Coonoor on May 25 and 26, 2019. The Nilgiri Mountains, one of the popular tourist destinations in the Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu, witnessed drop in number of visitors in 2018. There is around 10 per cent decline in the number of tourists, when compared to the previous year. The main reason of the drop is said to be the factors affected the neighbouring states – Kerala and Karnataka in 2018. Southern Railway is planning to operate round trip Udagamandalam-Ketti-Udagamandalam as part of Paryatan Parv 2018. The special train have seating capacity of 80 seats in First class and 40 in second class totalling 120 seats, with four trips consisting of three coaches.First Round trip service started from Udagamandalam at 10.00 am on September 16 and arrived at Lovedale at 10.11 am and departed at 10.13 am. The much famed Tea and Tourism festival begins in Ooty. The tea and tourism festival, which used to be held during autumn season, was included in the Ooty summer festival this year. The festival was introduced in 1994 to hold it in winter holidays to bring more tourists to the hills. The two-day event was inaugurated at the Research Centre for Tribal Culture building in Ooty on Saturday. This year the festival boasts 10 stalls and, on display are tea-ice cream and a variety of flavoured teas.

ഊട്ടിയില്‍ വസന്തോത്സവത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായ പനിനീര്‍ പുഷ്പമേള ഇന്നാരംഭിക്കും . റോസ്ഗാര്‍ഡനില്‍ റോസാപൂക്കള്‍കൊണ്ട് ഇന്ത്യാ ഗേറ്റിന്റെ മാതൃക, ജല്ലിക്കെട്ട് കാള തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ രൂപങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍മിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഉദ്യാനകവാടത്തില്‍ വിവിധ വര്‍ണങ്ങളിലുള്ള പൂക്കള്‍ കൊണ്ടുള്ള അലങ്കാരങ്ങള്‍ മനോഹരമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. 12 ഏക്കര്‍ വിസ്തൃതിയിലുള്ള പൂന്തോട്ടത്തില്‍ പനിനീര്‍പ്പൂക്കള്‍ മാത്രമാണ്. പൂക്കള്‍ എല്ലാം വിരിഞ്ഞുകഴിഞ്ഞു. പച്ച, മഞ്ഞ, നീല, കറുപ്പ് ,വയലറ്റ് തുടങ്ങിയ അപൂര്‍വയിനം പനിനീര്‍ച്ചെടികള്‍ ഇവിടെയുണ്ട്. വേള്‍ഡ് ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് റോസ് സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഗാര്‍ഡന്‍ ഓഫ് എക്‌സലെന്‍സി പുരസ്‌കാരം ലഭിച്ച ഉദ്യാനമാണിത്. നാലായിരത്തോളം ഇനത്തില്‍ 38,000 പനിനീര്‍ച്ചെടികളാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ളത് . അപൂര്‍വമായ പല നാടന്‍ റോസ് ചെടികളും ഉദ്യാനത്തിന്റെ ശേഖരത്തിലുണ്ട്. മേള 13ന് സമാപിക്കും ഊട്ടി പുഷ്പമേള 18ന് ആരംഭിച്ച് 23ന് സമാപിക്കും.
