Union ministry to encourage electric vehicles on roads
As part of the government’s green initiative, the union ministry to encourage electric vehicles on roads. It was announced by Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Road Transport in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha. Electric bus introduced by KSRTC The ministry also plan to grand driving license to children in the age group of 16-18 years, mainly school/ tuition students, to drive gearless E-scooters/ Bikes up to 4.0 KW. Baramulla rail link to be extended to Kupwara in north Kashmir
The Central government has approved the extension of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link up to Kupwara in north Kashmir, with an objective to expand connectivity in J&K. “I am glad to inform you that the railways has prioritized the extension of the rail link from Baramulla to Kupwara and has sanctioned an updated survey for it,” Anil Srivastava, Adviser (Transport) NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, said in his message to J&K Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam on Thursday, 29th November 2018. Government to open up 100 islands for eco-tourism
The government is planning to open around 100 islands in Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep for the development of eco-tourism. The project will be implemented on public private partnership (PPP) basis, Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, said on Friday, 10th August 2018. Prime Minister insists tourism-centric ecosystem
On the meeting held for the review of the progress of comprehensive development of the Andaman-Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands on Saturday, 1st June 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi insisted an integrated tourism-centric ecosystem in the areas selected for tourism development. An Islands Development Agency has been formed for the comprehensive development of 26 islands. He also urged to expedite the activities for the energy self-sufficiency in the islands that could be based on solar energy.
