The Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association on Thursday announced that Chinese nationals would no longer be provided accommodation in over 3,000 hotels and guest houses across the city. Said association president Sandeep Khandelwal, “The Chinese are not the world, we can survive without them as well. We are all law-abiding citizens and no one will take law in their hands, but this would make the Chinese worried. Air Canada has suspended flights to Mumbai and New Delhi after two Indian fighter jets were shot down by Pakistani military in an escalating crisis between India and Pakistan. As per media reports, the airline diverted a flight en route to New Delhi over the Atlantic Ocean and landed back in Toronto. A second flight from Vancouver to New Delhi was also cancelled. However, a flight from Toronto to Mumbai is still scheduled to run tonight because it takes a different route from the New Delhi flights. United Airlines has introduced a daily nonstop seasonal service between Indira Gandhi International Airport and its hub at San Francisco International Airport starting December 7, 2019 – subject to government approval. WOW air has launched three weekly flights from New Delhi to Iceland. The airline will operate three weekly flights from New Delhi, connecting passengers to North America and Europe through its hub in Iceland. WOW Air has announced flights to Vancouver from New Delhi that will operate thrice-a-week (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) commencing from June 2019. The ultra low cost airline from Iceland will operate flights with basic fares starting from Rs 21,999 and WOW premium starting from Rs 63,160. The offer will be valid on select flights only when booked on a round trip. Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA India) has successfully conducted a four-city roadshow in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Mumbai along with 26 operators. “The objective behind conducting this roadshow is to show that Mauritius is more than a beach destination. The Delhi government is all set to re-brand the city for tourists with an aim to double its revenue through tourism. The emphasis would be on creating specialised itineraries and conducting regular cultural events around the history of the capital. Currently, a traveller spends 1.8 days on an average in Delhi, and the aim is to increase this to 3.6 days.  According to World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), Delhi is the largest and busiest international airport, handling 58 million passengers in 2016-17. The Delhi government has decided to hire a ‘social media agency’ to project Delhi as a tourist-friendly destination on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
