The Navi Mumbai Airport in Maharashtra is expected to be inaugurated by 2020. “We hope the airport will be ready by late 2019 or early 2020,” said Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of the state, while speaking at the Global Aviation Summit in Mumbai. There are plans to double the yearly passenger handling capacity of the Navi Mumbai International Airport. It has been decided that the capacity will be enhanced to 20 million and has announced the plans to increase the final capacity by 50 per cent to 90 million. The initial plan was an enhancement of 10 million in the first phase and another 10 million in the second phase. നവിമുംബൈയിലേയും മുംബൈയിലേയും വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളെ ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ച് നിർമിക്കുന്ന മെട്രോ ലൈനിൽ അതിവേഗത്തിൽ ട്രെയിനുകൾ ഓടും. മണിക്കൂറിൽ 90 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗത്തിലാകും മെട്രോ ട്രെയിന്‍ ഓടുക. നിലവിൽ മണിക്കൂറിൽ 30 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗത്തിലാണ് മെട്രോ സർവീസ് നടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. ട്രെയിനുകളുടെ വേഗത കൂട്ടുന്നതിലൂടെ ഇരു വിമാനത്താവളങ്ങളും തമ്മിലുളള ഗതാഗതം സൗകര്യപ്രദമാക്കുകയാണ് ലക്ഷ്യം. ഇതിനായി 40 കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരമുളള റൂട്ടിൽ അഞ്ചോ ആറോ സ്റ്റേഷനുകളിൽ മാത്രമാകും മെട്രോ നിർത്തുക. ഓരോ 15 മിനിറ്റിലും ട്രെയിന്‍ സർവീസ് നടത്തും. ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ കിലോമീറ്റർ ഇടവിട്ടു സ്റ്റേഷനുകൾ വരുന്നതിനാലാണ് മെട്രോയ്ക്ക് 30 കിലോമീറ്റർ വേഗത്തിൽ ഓടേണ്ടി വരുന്നത്. മുംബൈ സാന്താക്രൂസിലുളള ഛത്രപതി ശിവാജി ‍രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളം പോലെ നവിമുംബൈയിലെ നിർദിഷ്ട രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളവും തിരക്കുണ്ടാകാൻ സാധ്യതയുളള ഇടമായി അതിവേഗം മാറുമെന്നാണു പ്രതീക്ഷ. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ യാത്ര കൂടുതൽ സൗകര്യപ്രദമാക്കാനാണ് നീക്കമെന്നു മുംബൈ മെട്രോപ്പൊലീറ്റൻ റീജ്യണല്‍ ഡവലപ്മെന്‍റ് അതോറിറ്റി (എം.എം.ആർ.ഡി.എ) വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി. ഡൽഹി മെട്രോയിൽ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഇടനാഴിയുടെ മാതൃകയാണ് മുംബൈയിലും തുടരാൻ ...
