New policy to boost heritage tourism in Mysuru
Heritage Tourism in Mysuru is gearing up for a major boost as the state government is planning to announce the new tourism policy in the next two months. Around 140 monuments have already been identified in Mysuru. “Task force led by Infosys Foundation Chairperson, Sudha Murty, has already held three meetings in this regard and consultation has been sought by stakeholders in 15 districts. The new policy is expected to be announced in January 2020,” said CT Ravi, Tourism Minister. Karnataka Tourism to set up a Miniature Park in Mysuru
The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has plans to set up a Miniature Park with an objective to attract more visitors to tourist spots in Mysuru. Mysore Palace The walk-through park of miniature models has been planned to be setup on the Mysuru-Bengaluru National Highway close to the city. Mysuru all set to host winter festival to woo tourists
After the extravagant Dussehra, Mysuru is all set to woo tourists with its winter festival. With aim to attract the year-end crowd, the state tourism department has inaugurated the winter festival on December 22. The festival is organised by the Mysuru District Administration, Karnataka Tourism Department and the Mysore Palace Board, in association with the city-based hotel, tourist taxi associations. The district tourism administration is expecting a footfall of more than 3 lakh during this big holiday season. S R Mahesh, Tourism Minister, has taken part in the maiden flight from Mysuru to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. The flight service has been envisaged to facilitate travel of national and international tourists for the Dasara festivities. Celebrations of Dasara in Mysore palace cancelled following death in Royal family
All the private celebrations of Dasara in the Mysore Palace stood suspended following the unexpected demise of two members of the royal family. The unfortunate events were on 19th October 2018. The first person was Puttarathnammanni (98), mother of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who passed away early in the morning. She died at a private hospital and later her body was brought to the Summer Palace adjoining the Mysuru Zoo, where it was kept for viewing to very close members of the royal family and others close to the family. Kannur airport will be beneficial to Karnataka tourism
The Kannur International Airport in northern Kerala, which is scheduled to be opened in September 2018, is expected to be beneficial for the Karnataka tourism industry. Top tourism destinations of Karnataka, like Mysuru and Kodagu (Coorg) are likely to be benefited by the new airport as they are within easy reach from Kannur. The new airport is just 58 km from Virajpet, about 90 km from Madikeri and 158 km from Mysuru. Multiple development programmes for Mysuru tourism
Prominent tourist place of Mysore, the Brindavan Garden will be renovated, said the Sericulture and Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh. He was interacting with reporters during a programme organized by Mysuru District Journalists Association on Friday, 29th June 2018. He said the design and structure of the Brindavan Garden has been obsolete and there have not been any changes since its launch, except for the dancing fountain. Aggressive promotion plans for Mysuru’s tourism
The stakeholders in the Mysuru tourism industry have suggested measures to encourage tourists to stay longer in Mysuru in lieu making it a one-day thing. Evening cultural shows, shopping festivals, and late-hour food hub etc. could be introduced for extending the night life. Another key issue that was raised at a stakeholders’ meeting here on Tuesday was revival of Brindavan Gardens, which they said was in a jumbles, with nothing new to offer to the tourists.
