General JB Park in Maharashtra to have monorail corridor

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) plans to build a Monorail corridor inside General Jagannathrao Bhosale (JB) Park at Sawantwadi in Sindhudurg district to lure tourists over a distance of around 400 metre. The park, named after Jagannathrao Bhosale, a veteran freedom fighter, has a playing area for children, a cultural gathering area, an amusement park, a restaurant, and a pool. The state tourism corporation has initiated invitation of bid from private companies to construct the proposed 400 meter-long Monorail corridor in a period of six months. MTDC organizes Grape Festival in Junnar

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) in association with Malshej Ghat MTDC Resort, Junnar is organizing a four-day ‘Junnar Grape Festival’ in Galegaon village from February 16 February 2019. Junnar taluka is a taluka (subdivision) of the Pune district in Maharashtra. It is northernmost taluka of the District.The area is well known for two of the Ashtavinayak temples at Lenyadri and Ozar respectively. The taluka is also the home of Shivneri Fort, GMRT (Khodad), and Vikram Sarabhai Earth Station at Arvi. MTDC asks authorities to identify ‘No-selfie spots’ in the state

Abhimanyu Kale, Maharashtra State Tourism Development Corporation, has asked the district collectors and other officials to launch an awareness programme to prevent tourists from taking selfies at accident prone spots. Devan Bharti, Joint commissioner of police, said that they have identified around 25 such spots in the state. “We have identified the 25 dangerous spots in the city and launched a massive awareness camp; utmost vigil will be maintained around such spots,” said Bharti. Tourism fest to be held at 23 resorts in Maharashtra

In a bid to offer aesthetic beauty, comfortable stay and entertainment to the visitors, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) said it will celebrate first of its kind festival, Purnima Mahotsav. MTDC will organise cultural programmes and literature festival at 23 of its resorts. Every month on ‘purnima’ or full moon day, visitors can enjoy the cultural programme and literature festival at MTDC resorts. This initiative will not only provide a platform to the artists but will also help in conserving the rich heritage and culture. Maharashtra Tourism to host Switzerland’s Landwehr Orchestra in Mumbai

Ajantha and Ellora to become Buddhist tourism hot-spots

After the Buddhist Conclave in Ahmedabad, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is working to create new avenues in the state for Buddhist tourism by reinforcing the ties with the Buddhist nations around the world. The government also have plans to give away the state’s land to Buddhist countries to develop Buddhist theme parks and monasteries near Ajantha caves. Maharashtra to launch web portal for medical tourism

Maharashtra tourism department plans to launch a web portal to provide a single source of authentic information about medical care and to eliminate hawkers and middlemen. “Maharashtra is trying to enhance its strength in the medical and wellness industry, which includes therapies like yoga, Ayurveda and meditation. The portal will include all the stakeholders in the industry like, doctors, practitioners, hospitals, spas, transport and travel agencies, service providers, bureaus providing bedside assistants for patients and even security services,” said a senior official from the state tourism department. MTDC hosts International Buddhist Conclave 2018 in Aurangabad

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), in association with Ministry of Tourism, has organised the “6th International Buddhist Conclave 2018 in Aurangabad from August 23-26. The International Buddhist Conclave 2018, aimed to encourage the prominent Buddhist heritage and pilgrim sites in Maharashtra, highlighted the traditional and historical facets of Buddhism across the world. Maharashtra seeks help of Buddhist Monks to promote Tourism

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation aims at promoting tourism in Buddhist hotspots of the states with the help of Buddhist Monks. MTDC is going to seek help of monks from 15 neighbouring Buddhist countries. Thhese monks will propagate Buddhism’s traditional and historical facets, in the state in the form of caves, stupas, gumphas and viharas, among other artefacts. Maharashtra Tourism issues monsoon safety advisory

Malshej Ghat Expecting a heavy tourist inflow during the monsoon season, the Maharashtra Tourism Department has issued strict advisories to district collectors to identify a list of “vulnerable” spots and take precautionary measures to avoid unfortunate incidents. MTDC, Airbnb to create 1,500 tourism entrepreneurs in Maharashtra

The Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme aims to attract a larger global audience and boost tourism in Maharashtra. “After signing an agreement for Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme with Airbnb last year we already have 500 hosts enrolled on the community-driven hospitality company’s platform generating regular income. Smruti Mandir gets grade-C tourism status

Smruti Mandir situated at Reshimbagh in Nagpur has been given grade-C tourism status. Known for the memorial of RSS founder Dr KB Hedgewar, the 78-year-old Smruti Mandir will now be able to get funding from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), central and state government on works in and around it. Eco Tourism Board to develop 320 villages in Maharashtra

With an aim to help the small villages earn consistent revenue all throughout the year and protect the biodiversity of the places, the ecotourism board of Maharashtra is planning to develop 320 villages into tourist destinations.
