The Ministry of Tourism places special emphasis on the development and promotion of tourism in the North Eastern Region (NER). The Ministry carries out regular promotional campaigns and events to showcase the unique tourism products and sights of this beautiful region to the potential travellers under DekhoApnaDesh initiative. The Tourism Ministry has launched campaigns to promote tourism to the North Eastern Region on various platforms in Digital, Print and Social Media. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Indiatourism Mumbai, Regional Office of Ministry of Tourism in the Western Region organized an online book reading session of “Gandhi in Bombay’’ by the authors Dr.(Mrs) Usha Thakkar and Ms. Sandhya Mehta on 15th March 2021. Budget allocation of Tourism Ministry for 2021-22 increased to Rs. 2026.77 Crore
The outlay for Annual Budget 2021-22 of the Ministry of Tourism is Rs. 2026.77 Crore as against the outlay (Rs. 1260.00 Crore) approved for the revised Budget Plan 2020-21. Briefing media about the various budgetary provisions benefitting the tourism sector in New Delhi today, Secretary Tourism, Shri Arvind Singh said that the annual outlay in FY 2021-22 is 61% higher than the revised annual outlay in FY 2020-21. Arvind Singh Appointed as the new secretary of Tourism, Govt of India
Arvind Singh, Chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI), has been appointed as the new Secretary of Tourism, Govt of India. He replaces Yogendra Tripathy who has been shifted to the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals as Secretary under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The change at the Tourism Ministry is part of a reshuffle announced by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet in the top-level Indian Administrative Services responsibilities. Singh joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1988. His initial assignments were as Assistant Collector at Aurangabad and as Chief Executive Officer of Aurangabad and Nagpur Zilla Parishads. MOT explores possibilities of Travel Insurance for International Visitors
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is believed to have started preliminary discussions with the major players of the insurance sector as well as the Ministry of Finance exploring the possibilities of introducing travel Insurance to boost the confidence of international visitors.
