Official visit to morocco initiates preparations for UNWTO general assembly
The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Kingdom of Morocco met to advance the organization of the 24th UNWTO General Assembly in October 2021, the first global high-level United Nations event to be held since the beginning of the pandemic. Led by the Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, a delegation from UNWTO has concluded an official visit to Morocco to discuss the programme, calendar, and facilities to be prepared for this statutory meeting that will focus on Education and Youth, Rural Development and Digital Innovation. ITDC inks MoU with Morocco for tourism development
Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy, Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Sajid and Minister of State for Tourism (IC), Government of India, K J Alphons held a bilateral meeting on Tourism Cooperation between India and Morocco in New Delhi. During this meeting both the Ministers agreed to enhance the tourism cooperation between India and Morocco and to work towards increasing tourist arrivals between both countries. Morocco’s tourism revenues up 18.1 per cent
As per the recent statistics, Morocco’s tourism revenues has jumped 18.1 per cent year on year to $2.1 billion in the first four months of 2018. The statistics were published by the country’s foreign exchange regulator. Between January and April, remittances from around 4.5 million Moroccans living abroad posted a 13 per cent increase to $ 2.11 billion compared with $ 1.85 billion during the same period previous year. Tourism revenues and remittances from Moroccans living abroad are the main sources of foreign currency reserves for Morocco. Morocco plans to double tourist footfalls from India by 2019
Morocco is taking steps to open a tourism office in New Delhi in two-three months and is expecting to double the tourist outflow from the country by 2019. “We received 21,850 Indians and people of Indian origin in 2017. We expect to more than double this number by 2019. For this we are taking a number of steps,” Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Maliki.
