MOT signs MOU with YATRA.COM
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yatra on 02nd July 2021. The event was organized under the arrangement between the Ministry of Tourism and the Quality Council of India (QCI) for implementing measures for strengthening the Indian Hospitality & Tourism Industry. The primary objective of this MoU is to provide extensive visibility to accommodation units, which have self-certified themselves on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform. The positive signs from the domestic tourism market have prompted the MOT to draft more synergized protocols for domestic travel. Ministry of Tourism issues guidelines to hotels & homestays, to check coronavirus transmission
Given the current COVID-19 outbreak, it is important that all hotels, restaurants and other hospitality units take suitable measures to restrict any further transmission of the virus while providing accommodation and other tourist services post lockdown, the Ministry of Tourism has said. The guidelines aim to minimise all possible physical contacts between a staff and guests and maintain social distancing and other preventive and safety measures against COVID-19. It also tries to make the traceability of the guests easier, in case a situation in future warrants so. These guidelines will apply to Bed and Breakfast (B&B), Homestay and Farmstay units. ... Tourism ministry tells tour operators to avoid movement of tourist groups
The Ministry of Tourism has directed the tour operators to avoid movement of tourist groups within the country, in a bid to control the spread of the corona virus. “Your support will go a long way in strengthening the hands of the government of India in its efforts to overcome the situation,” said Rupinder Brar, the additional director general of the Ministry of Tourism. As a precautionary measure, all visas issued to nationals of all countries have been suspended till April 15 and Indian nationals have been strongly advised to avoid all non-essential travel. MoT allots over Rs 2,000 crore for promoting India this fiscal
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India spent Rs 1687.06 crore and Rs 1986.04 crore during the years 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively under its plan scheme on tourism sector. The Budget Estimate under the plan scheme for the sector during the financial year 2019-20 is Rs 2075.12 crore, informed Minister of State (I/C) for Culture & Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel. The tourism sector contributed an estimated (direct + indirect) 5.06 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product of the country during 2016-17. Tourists can tweet their grievences soon
When you are touring in India, and wish to file a complaint, then just tweet your concerns to the Ministry of Tourism. The Ministry of Tourism is planning to launch a Twitter-based grievance redressal mechanism for tourists to file their complaints in real time. The ministry wants to replicate the External Affairs Ministry’s Twitter Seva Service, which was launched in 2016 with an aim to centralise and expedite its grievance redressal mechanism. Cabinet approves Swadesh Darshan Scheme
Under Swadesh Darshan Scheme, Ministry of Tourism is developing critical tourism infrastructure in the country in a sustainable and inclusive manner to make India into a world class tourist destination. MOT appoints Association of Buddhist Tour Operators to promote Buddhist tourism
Ministry of Tourism has appointed Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) as Advisor in National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC). The ministry had nominated the association to the council for preserving heritage monuments and promoting Buddhist tourism in the country. “ABTO is a platform for all tourism service providers and others stakeholders engaged in the promotion of Buddhist pilgrimage tourism in India, Nepal and other Asian countries. Ministry of Tourism to appoint strategic adviser for Chinese market
The government is taking a slew of measures to increase the number of tourists visiting India from China. Tourism Minister recommends better air connectivity for tourist destinations
India’s booming tourism industry is aided by the transportation services in a great way. A meeting was held between Union Tourism Minister K.J. Alphons, Minister of Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayanta Sinha, along with the officials of both ministries for creating better air connectivity of tourist destinations in order to heighten the tourism sector.
