Prime Minister Narendra Modi practicing yoga Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event of International Day of Yoga 2019 celebrations to be held at Prabhat Tara, Ranchi, Jharkhand on 21st June, 2019. Approximately 30,000 people are expected to participate in the main event. Ministry of AYUSH and WHO has been jointly organizing a three days Working Group Meeting for reviewing the WHO document ‘Benchmarks for Training in Yoga, from 26-28 February, 2019 at New Delhi. The meeting is coordinated by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY). 12500 health and wellness centres need to be identified across the country for rendering AYUSH services, said Shripad Naik, Minister of State for AYUSH (I/C) on the sidelines of the fourth Conference of AYUSH/Health Ministers of States/UTs. Ministry of AYUSH observes Ayurveda Day every year on Dhanawantari Jayanti (Dhanteras). This year Ayurveda Day is being observed on 5th November 2018. Yoga Ambassador’s Tour is all set to begin on June 14th with an aim to propagate Kerala as a global destination. Around 60-plus Yoga professionals from across the world will be a part of the tour. ATTOI (Association of Tourism Trade Organizations, India), in association with Ministry of Ayush and Kerala Tourism, is organising the tour, which is first-of-its-kind in the world. At Kerala’s Kunnamthanam village in Pathanamthitta district, at least one member of every family is yoga practitioner. The Central Ministry is planning to launch a similar initiative to turn at least 500 villages in the country into “Sampoorna Yoga Grams” (complete yoga village). Similar to that of Kunnamthanam village, at least a member of each family will follow the discipline.
