Emirates has unveiled a brand new Business Class cabin and configuration on its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, with new wider seats laid out in a 2-2-2 configuration for the first time. The airline has invested over US$150 million to refurbish the 10 existing 777-200LR aircraft in its fleet. The newly refurbished Emirates 777-200LR aircraft is set in a two-class configuration which offers 38 Business Class seats and 264 seats in Economy Class. UAE residency visa stickers, which are placed on passport pages, would be replaced by a new electronic system, the Ministry of Interior said. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs had reportedly discussed the possibility during a meeting held in Ajman last week. The proposal comes in line with Vision 2021 and is indicative of a general migration to smart digital services that reduce paperwork, time and effort. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said the weather is expected to be frequently partly cloudy with different formations of clouds moving from central Saudi Arabia towards Dubai, in the coming days. It has also alerted the citizens to take precautions while driving in rainy conditions and poor visibility due to blowing sand or dust during the next three days. The NCM also asked the public to stay away from water gatherings, especially near the highlands. Sheikha Hessa bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the mother of the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, has died. UAE would observe three days of mourning beginning Sunday. Sheikha Hessa was the first wife of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the first president of the UAE when the federation of seven sheikhdoms became a country in 1971. She gave birth in 1948 to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who became president after Sheikh Zayed’s death in 2004. Sheikh Khalifa is also the ruler of oil-rich Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.
