Emirates will be expanding its services to Jeddah and Medina with an additional 46 flights to help facilitate travel for Hajj pilgrims heading to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The flights will be operated between 27 July and 22 August to support the Hajj journey to the Holy City of Mecca. Karipur Airport has been reinstated as an embarkation point for Hajj, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, 2019. It was informed by Alphons KJ, Union Minister of State for Tourism. Earlier, the embarkation point was changed from Kozhikode to Cochin airport following the runway enhancement works in Kozhikode. In a press release on Friday, 26th October, the minister stated that Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minister for Minority Affairs, took the decision following his request to reinstate Kozhikode airport’s status as an embarkation point for Hajj. Emirates will be operating extra flights to Jeddah and Medina to help facilitate travel for pilgrims heading to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Emirates will be operating 33 additional flights to Jeddah and Medina from 6 to 31 August to support the journey for pilgrims expected to travel to the Holy City of Mecca during Hajj this year.
