Maharashtra Tourism issues monsoon safety advisory
Malshej Ghat Expecting a heavy tourist inflow during the monsoon season, the Maharashtra Tourism Department has issued strict advisories to district collectors to identify a list of “vulnerable” spots and take precautionary measures to avoid unfortunate incidents. Joint Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), Ashutosh Rathod, told the media that state Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal had instructed district collectors to enhance security measures after identifying the spots at risk. സഞ്ചാരികളുടെ സ്വര്‍ഗം എന്നാണ് മാഥേരാന് കുന്നുകള്‍ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ രണ്ടു വന്‍നഗരങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ പച്ചപ്പിന്റെ ചെറിയ തുരുത്താണ് ഈ ഇടം. സഹ്യാദ്രി മലമുകളില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന മാഥേരാന് വലിയൊരു പ്രത്യേകതയുണ്ട്. വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന മലിനീകരണത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് അനുദിനം നശിക്കുന്ന നഗരങ്ങളെ പോലെയാവരുത് തങ്ങളുടെ ഗ്രാമം എന്ന നടപടിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി മാഥേരാനില്‍ വാഹനഗതാഗതം നിരോധിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഇവിടെ. മോട്ടോര്‍ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വിലക്കുള്ള ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഏക ഹില്‍ സ്റ്റേഷനാണ് മാഥേരാന്. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ റായ്ഗഡ് ജില്ലയിലാണ് മാഥേരാന് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ചെറിയ ഹില്‍സ്റ്റേഷനായ മഥേരാന്‍ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പില്‍ നിന്ന് 800 മീറ്റര്‍ ഉയരത്തില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇവിടം ഒരു പരിസ്ഥിതി ലോല പ്രദേശം കൂടിയാണ്. പ്രകൃതി സംരക്ഷണത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിട്ടാണ് വാഹനങ്ങളെ ഗ്രാമവാസികള്‍ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത്. മാഥേരാന് ഹരിത ഉദ്യാനമായി കേന്ദ്ര പരിസ്ഥിതി വനംവകുപ്പ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്നാണ് ഇവിടെ മോട്ടോര്‍ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ അനുവദനീയമല്ലാതായത്. അത്യാഹിതങ്ങള്‍ സംഭവിച്ചാല്‍ മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയുടെ നടത്തിപ്പിന് കീഴില്‍ വരുന്ന ഒരു ആംബുലന്‍സ് മാത്രമാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ള ... Railways to open revolving restaurant in Matheran
The Central Railway (CR) is planning to open a revolving restaurant in Matheran, Mumbai. The CR is also getting in touch with IRCTC to come up with ways to attract more tourists to the hill station. THe authorities are also planning to come up with a steam engine ride up the Matheran hill.
