Hospitality giant Marriott is planning to add 11 new properties in the UAE by year-end, bringing its portfolio to 59 properties and over 17,000 rooms in the across the six Emirates. In 2018, around 6 properties have been added so far and the hospitality major is planning to add five more in the country this year itself. Marriott International reveals Robust expansion plans across Africa. The hospitality major said it is also expecting to increase portfolio by 50 per cent with over 200 hotels and 38,000 rooms by 2023. Marriott International has announced that they would be introducing facial recognition at the check-in desk, which is a first in the industry. Marriott International has opened the first Element-branded hotel in Dubai. Marriott International has launched its 100th hotel in India in India’s Silicon Valley, Bengaluru. “With the opening of the 360-room Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel, we have achieved the milestone of 100 hotels in India,” said group President and Chief Executive Officer Arne M Sorenson. The 360-room hotel includes 39 suites and 79 Sheraton Club Rooms, and also home to large meeting and banqueting facilities.
