Tourists visiting Kerala will soon be able to enjoy a river cruise like never before. Kerala Tourism is launching the pioneering Malanad-Malabar River Cruise on 15 February next week, which features 11 types of boat rides that provide individual thematic experiences and attracts tourists to the state’s less-explored areas. The inaugural cruise boat will enter the waters next week as part of the innovative project that aims to brighten the waterways in the northern districts of Kannur and Kasaragod. With an aim to promote the Northern part of Kerala, the travel and tourism stakeholders have come together to form Malabar Tourism Society. The organization, which is scheduled to be launched on January 12, 2019, aims to develop the tourism in Malabar (North Kerala) region and promote six districts of Northern Kerala collectively by forming a dedicated Malabar circuit. Koyilandy Municipality Building Kerala government is venturing to generate more employment opportunities in the tourism sector by exploring the potential of Malabar region. It was informed by A C Moideen, Minister for Local Self Governments, while addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for the Koyilandy municipality’s new shopping complex-cum-office annex on Monday,5th November 2018. “The government will give priority to innovative ventures like river tourism. Malabar River Cruise project will kick start on 30th June 2018. The project targets comprehensive development in the tourism sector of Malabar. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will lay the foundation stone for the project at Parassini kadavu in Kannur. “Once the project is in operation, it will be a big leap in the tourism sector of Malabar”, said the Tourism Minister Kadakampalli Surendran. മലബാറിന്റെ കാശിയെന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ വൈശാഖോത്സവം ലോക പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. പരമശിവനും പാര്‍വതിയും പ്രധാന ആരാധനമൂര്‍ത്തികളായ കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രം പൗരാണിക ഹിന്ദു ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളില്‍ ഒന്നാണ്. മലബാറിന്റെ മഹോത്സവം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ വൈശാഖോത്സവം ഇടവത്തിലെ ചോതി മുതല്‍ മിഥുനത്തിലെ ചിത്തിര വരെയാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്. സഹ്യ മല നിരകളുടെ താഴ്‌വരയില്‍ പ്രകൃതി ഭംഗിയാല്‍ അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു കാഴ്ച തന്നെയാണ്. വയനാടന്‍ ചുരങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഒഴുകി വരുന്ന ഔഷധ ഗുണമുള്ള ബാവലി പുഴ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ വശങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്നു. തിരവാണിച്ചിറ കായല്‍ പുഴയുടെ വടക്ക് വശത്ത് ഉണ്ട്. ഇതിന്റെ രണ്ടിന്റെയും നടുവിലായാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പുഴയുടെ അക്കരയും ഇക്കരയും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങള്‍. ഇക്കര കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നും ഭക്തര്‍ക്കായി തുറന്ന് കൊടുക്കും എന്നാല്‍ വടക്ക് ഭാഗത്തുള്ള അക്കര കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ വൈശാഖ ഉത്സവക്കാലത്ത് മാത്രം കെട്ടിയുണ്ടാക്കും. ഉത്സവസമയത്ത് ഇക്കര കൊട്ടിയൂര്‍ പൂജകള്‍ ഉണ്ടാവില്ല. സ്ഥിര ക്ഷേത്രമായ അക്കര കൊട്ടിയൂരില്‍ സ്വയംഭൂവായ ശിവലിംഗമാണ് ഉള്ളത്. മണിത്തറയില്‍ പൂജിക്കുന്ന ശിവലിംഗം. ...
