Elevated walkway across Malabar Hill in Mumbai to attract tourists
Maharashtra is gearing up to add a new dimension to the tourism map. The Maharashtra Tourism Department is all set to build a new elevated walkway in Mumbai to receive tourists. The Elevated walkway is being constructed at Malabar Hill under the leadership of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Tourists can walk across the bridge and enjoy the unobstructed view of the sea. This will be the tree-top elevated walkway. According to reports, the government will build a 900-meter-long and 1.5-meter-wide elevated walkway. The walkway will be completed by the end of 2021. Mahindra Lifespaces to develop medical tourism hub in Murud
Murud, Maharashtra Maharashtra state government has inked an agreement with realty firm Mahindra Lifespaces to develop the coastal town of Murud in Raigad district as a medical tourism and wellness destination. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 500 crore and it is expected to generate around 6,000 job opportunities. Deep Mangal Developers, subsidiary of Mahindra Lifespace Developers (MLDL), will be executing the eco-friendly project in an area of 1,300-acre; which is expected to be the largest medical and wellness tourism investment in the state. MTDC hosts International Buddhist Conclave 2018 in Aurangabad
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), in association with Ministry of Tourism, has organised the “6th International Buddhist Conclave 2018 in Aurangabad from August 23-26. The International Buddhist Conclave 2018, aimed to encourage the prominent Buddhist heritage and pilgrim sites in Maharashtra, highlighted the traditional and historical facets of Buddhism across the world. New guidelines for adventure tourism in Maharashtra
The government of Maharashtra has issued fresh guidelines for adventure tourism in the state. As per the new guidelines, it is mandatory for all organizations dealing in adventure activities and tourism in the state to register with the sports department in their respective district of operation. The state school education and sports department has issued a government resolution in this regard on July 26. The resolution details the procedures to be followed during the conduct of all types of adventure activities with set guidelines on equipment, certifications and training, risk mitigation and safety procedures. Maharashtra Tourism issues monsoon safety advisory
Malshej Ghat Expecting a heavy tourist inflow during the monsoon season, the Maharashtra Tourism Department has issued strict advisories to district collectors to identify a list of “vulnerable” spots and take precautionary measures to avoid unfortunate incidents. Joint Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), Ashutosh Rathod, told the media that state Tourism Minister Jaykumar Rawal had instructed district collectors to enhance security measures after identifying the spots at risk. The Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme aims to attract a larger global audience and boost tourism in Maharashtra. “After signing an agreement for Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme with Airbnb last year we already have 500 hosts enrolled on the community-driven hospitality company’s platform generating regular income. Smruti Mandir gets grade-C tourism status
Smruti Mandir situated at Reshimbagh in Nagpur has been given grade-C tourism status. Known for the memorial of RSS founder Dr KB Hedgewar, the 78-year-old Smruti Mandir will now be able to get funding from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), central and state government on works in and around it. The status was given following recommendations of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the district planning committee. Maharashtra plans to develop Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur circuit
The Maharashtra government is planning to develop the ‘Mumbai-Aurangabad-Nagpur’ triangle as a tourist circuit to attract visitors. The circuit will be developed on the lines of the Jaipur-Delhi-Agra Golden Triangle tourist circuit. Eco Tourism Board to develop 320 villages in Maharashtra
With an aim to help the small villages earn consistent revenue all throughout the year and protect the biodiversity of the places, the ecotourism board of Maharashtra is planning to develop 320 villages into tourist destinations. The Walhe village in Purandhar Tehsil, located 56 km away from Pune, will soon be added to the list of tourist destinations. Walhe, with a Rs 5.6 crore development sanctioned by the Maharastra government, will have a samadhi dedicated to sage Valmiki, also known as adi kavi, who has penned the Ramayana.
