Maharashtra seeks IHHA’s expertise for heritage tourism development
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has invited the Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) to understand the policy measures Rajasthan has taken and how a strategy can be prepared to promote its rich heritage to boost its tourism. “Maharashtra has a rich treasure-trove of heritage assets which has huge potential for tourism. We are keen to contribute to the state’s efforts to preserve and promote heritage tourism in the state,” said Gaj Sigh, President of IHHA. General JB Park in Maharashtra to have monorail corridor
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) plans to build a Monorail corridor inside General Jagannathrao Bhosale (JB) Park at Sawantwadi in Sindhudurg district to lure tourists over a distance of around 400 metre. The park, named after Jagannathrao Bhosale, a veteran freedom fighter, has a playing area for children, a cultural gathering area, an amusement park, a restaurant, and a pool. The state tourism corporation has initiated invitation of bid from private companies to construct the proposed 400 meter-long Monorail corridor in a period of six months. Tourism fest to be held at 23 resorts in Maharashtra
In a bid to offer aesthetic beauty, comfortable stay and entertainment to the visitors, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) said it will celebrate first of its kind festival, Purnima Mahotsav. MTDC will organise cultural programmes and literature festival at 23 of its resorts. Every month on ‘purnima’ or full moon day, visitors can enjoy the cultural programme and literature festival at MTDC resorts. This initiative will not only provide a platform to the artists but will also help in conserving the rich heritage and culture. Tourism minister Jaykumar Rawal inaugurated the Purnima Mahotsav at Tadoba resort.
Maharashtra Tourism to host Switzerland’s Landwehr Orchestra in Mumbai
Landwehr Orchestra The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will host Switzerland’s Landwehr Orchestra here on October 22 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, as part of their efforts to become a desirable destination hosting international events, Landwehr is the certified concert and marching band of the canton and city of Fribourg, and, since starting in 1804, has performed across the globe including Japan, China, Iran, USA, Argentina, Australia and Canada. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), in association with Ministry of Tourism, has organised the “6th International Buddhist Conclave 2018 in Aurangabad from August 23-26. The International Buddhist Conclave 2018, aimed to encourage the prominent Buddhist heritage and pilgrim sites in Maharashtra, highlighted the traditional and historical facets of Buddhism across the world. Buddhist delegates, monks and the consulate general from 12 to 15 Buddhist nations were present at the conclave where, business meetings between them and domestic tour operators were facilitated. MTDC, Airbnb to create 1,500 tourism entrepreneurs in Maharashtra

The Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme aims to attract a larger global audience and boost tourism in Maharashtra. “After signing an agreement for Tourism Entrepreneurship Accelerator Programme with Airbnb last year we already have 500 hosts enrolled on the community-driven hospitality company’s platform generating regular income. Tourism department set to launch adventure sports this monsoon
Pune is very famous for some striking trekking and tourist spots. The state tourism department has decided to exploit this possibility for improving the tourism potential. The department plans to launch adventure sports at three prime locations, namely Sinhgad, Mahabaleshwar and Malshej Ghat. Smruti Mandir gets grade-C tourism status
Smruti Mandir situated at Reshimbagh in Nagpur has been given grade-C tourism status. Known for the memorial of RSS founder Dr KB Hedgewar, the 78-year-old Smruti Mandir will now be able to get funding from Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), central and state government on works in and around it. The status was given following recommendations of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and the district planning committee. Eco Tourism Board to develop 320 villages in Maharashtra
With an aim to help the small villages earn consistent revenue all throughout the year and protect the biodiversity of the places, the ecotourism board of Maharashtra is planning to develop 320 villages into tourist destinations.
