Kerala saw 10.94% growth in tourist footfalls in 2017
Kerala recorded the highest number of tourism arrivals in the past nine-year period, with a 10.94 per cent rise compared with the figures of last year. An increase of 15.54 lakh new tourists – domestic and foreign travellers combined – was recorded this year, with footfalls going up to 1,57,65,390 in 2017, as against 1,42,10,954 in 2016. Kerala Blog Express reaches Kochi
International bloggers who are on a two-week long trip to Kerala reached Kochi today, as part of their visit to the renowned heritage site of Muziris. The first trip was to Kodungalloor to visit the Muziris Heritage project. The bloggers paid a visit to the famed synagogue at Chennamangalam, which is known for its traditional Kerala architecture that has put to play western construction technology. Kumarakom needs collective effort to become global destination: Alphons
Kumarakom, chosen as one of the iconic destinations in India, needs collective effort to make it a world-class destination, opined Union Minister of State for Tourism KJ Alphons. He also pointed out that it can only be attained through the development of all panchayats in and around the Vembanad Lake. The minister was addressing a two-day stakeholder consultation programme held to discuss various issues related to the comprehensive tourism development programmes in Kumarakom. Ten tourism sites to be developed into iconic destinations: K J Alphons
Colva Beach, Goa The Ministry of Tourism has identified ten prominent tourist sites for development into iconic tourist destinations in the country. The plan was announced during the Budget Announcements of 2018-19. The ministry has identified the sites based on the criteria of footfall, regional distribution, potential for development and ease of implementation. Budget 2018: Kumarakom to get a face lift

He said this can be achieved by adopting a holistic approach of development with the support of the private sector.
