Kodaikanal’s parks close again due to overcrowding
With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the flow of tourists to Kodaikanal, a major tourist destination in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, authorities re-imposed restrictions due to congestion. Permission to visit here was granted since Monday. The government had given permission to tourists to visit Bryant Park, Chettiar Park, and Rose Park under the Department of Horticulture. But the authorities decided to close these centers temporarily until further orders. Tourists are not allowed to enter other hill stations in the state such as Ooty and Yercaud. Ooty all set to go plastic-free from August 15th
One of the most sought-after tourist destinations in India, Ooty in Tamil Nadu is going to be plastic-free from August 2019 onwards. The Nilgiri District Administration, is in charge of Ooty, has passed a rule to ban the sale of single-use plastics that include water bottles, food items packed in plastic, and soft drinks in the town and the highways leading to the district’s major towns. Tamil Nadu bets big on water sports
Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) is planning to add 120 new boats, including kayaks, pedal boats, motorboats, outboard boats and water scooters. Tenders have already been floated to acquire kayaks, pedal boats and water scooters. TTDC has floated tenders for acquiring 120 boats, including five single-seater kayaks, five double-seater kayaks, 27 two-seater pedal boats, 35 four-seater pedal boats, six four-seater row boats, six eight-seater motor boats, two 15-seater motor boats, eight 15 HP outboard motorboats, four high-speed water scooters and two four-seater speed boats.
