Kochi airport to operate 100 plus flights in a week, during first phase of operations
Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has announced that it will operate more than 100 flights in a week. During the first phase of operations from May 25 to June 30, there will be flight services to and from Kochi, Lakshadweep, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kannur, Mumbai, Mysore and Pune. Air India, Air Asia, Alliance Air, Indigo, SpiceJet, Vistara and Air India Express will be operating from Kochi. Kochi International Airport bags top UN Environmental Award
Cochin International Airport Ltd was presented with UN’s highest environmental prize the ‘Champions of Earth-2018’ at a grand ceremony held at New York on the side line of the 73rd General Assembly of United Nations on 26th September 2018. Kochi airport restarts operations after Kerala floods
Kochi Airport, which has been closed since August 15 following incessant rain and flood that caused massive destruction to the state of Kerala, has resumed operations at 2 pm today. Indigo flight 667 from Ahmadabad to Kochi was the first flight landed at the airport. As per the official circular issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Monday, all airlines, both domestic and international, will commence with the current schedule of operations. Kochi airport to resume operations from 29th August 2018
Operations of the Kochi International Airport will resume on 29th August 2018 at 2:00 PM. It was decided by the authorities after a review meeting held yesterday. The circular issued by CIAL on 22nd August states that three more days will be required to make the airport fully functional. Earlier it was declared to resume operations from 26th August. As per the circular, the date was extended as most of their staff got affected with the floods and they are out of station. നെടുമ്പാശേരിയിൽ വിമാനങ്ങൾ ഇറങ്ങുന്നത് താത്കാലികമായി നിർത്തി
ഇടുക്കി, ഇടമലയാര്‍ അണക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ തുറന്ന പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരി വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ വിമാനങ്ങൾ ഇറങ്ങുന്നത് താൽക്കാലികമായി നിർത്തി . ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 1.10 മുതലാണ് വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ലാന്‍ഡിങ് താത്കാലികമായി നിര്‍ത്തിവെച്ചത്‌. എന്നാല്‍ ഇവിടെ നിന്ന് വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ പുറപ്പെടുന്നത് തടസ്സമില്ലാതെ തുടരും. ഇടമലയാറില്‍ നിന്ന് എത്തുന്ന വെള്ളം പെരിയാര്‍ കവിഞ്ഞ് ചെങ്കല്‍ത്തോടും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകിയതോടെയാണ് ലാന്‍ഡിങ് നിര്‍ത്തിയത്. ചുറ്റുമതിലിന് പുറത്ത് വെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. റണ്‍വേയില്‍ നനവുണ്ടോ എന്ന് പരിശോധിച്ച ശേഷമേ ഇനി വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ലാന്‍ഡിങ് അനുവദിക്കൂ. വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് 2013ല്‍ വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചിരുന്നു. കനത്ത മഴയെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇടമലയാര്‍ ഡാം തുറന്നുവിട്ട സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ സമീപത്തെ ചെങ്ങല്‍ കനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞുകവിഞ്ഞതോടെയാണ് അന്ന് വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചുപൂട്ടിയത്. ചെങ്ങല്‍ കനാലിന്റെ ആഴം കൂട്ടിയും ബണ്ടുകള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചും വിമാനത്താവളത്തെ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കഭീഷണിയില്‍ നിന്നും സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ നടപടികളെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഇടമലയാര്‍ ഡാമിന്റെ നാല് ഷട്ടറുകളും തുറന്നതിനാലും ഇടുക്കി ഡാം ട്രയല്‍ റണ്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചതിനാലും സ്ഥിതിഗതി വിലയിരുത്തിയ ശേഷം തുടർനടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കൂ എന്ന് സിയാല്‍ അധികൃതര്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

കൊച്ചി രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളത്തിൽ ഇനി ഇരു വശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നും വിമാനങ്ങൾക്കു പറന്നിറങ്ങാം. ഇതിനായി രണ്ടാമതൊരു ഇൻസ്ട്രുമെന്‍റ് ലാൻഡിങ് സംവിധാനം (ഐഎൽഎസ്) കൂടി വിമാനത്താവളത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. മഞ്ഞ്, മഴ തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രതികൂല കാലാവസ്ഥകൾ മൂലം ദൂരക്കാഴ്ച കുറയുന്ന അവസരങ്ങളിൽ വിമാനങ്ങൾക്കു സുരക്ഷിതമായി ഇറങ്ങുന്നതിനു വഴിയൊരുക്കുന്ന ഓട്ടമേറ്റഡ് സംവിധാനമാണ് ഐഎൽഎസ്. രണ്ടാമത്തെ ഇൻസ്ടുമെന്റ് ലാൻഡിങ് സംവിധാനത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാപനവും പരിശോധനകളും പരീക്ഷണങ്ങളും വിമാനങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ചുള്ള കാലിബ്രേഷൻ പരിശോധനകളുമെല്ലാം വിജയകരമായി പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച മുതൽ പുതിയ സംവിധാനം പ്രവർത്തനക്ഷമമാകുമെന്ന് എയർപോർട്ട് അതോറിറ്റി ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു. പൂർണമായി വിദേശനിർമിതവും അത്യാധുനികവുമായ ‘ഇന്ദ്ര’ ഐഎൽഎസ് ആണു പുതുതായി സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഇതോടെ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെ റൺവേയുടെ ഇരു വശത്തു നിന്നും ഏതു പ്രതികൂല കാലാവസ്ഥയിലും സമയനഷ്ടമില്ലാതെ വിമാനങ്ങൾക്കു സുരക്ഷിതമായി നിലത്തിറങ്ങാനാകും. ഇറങ്ങാൻ കഴിയാതെ വിമാനങ്ങൾ ഇതര വിമാനത്താവങ്ങളിലേക്കു തിരിച്ചു വിടുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നതോടെ വിമാനക്കമ്പനികൾക്ക് ഇന്ധന നഷ്ടം, സമയ നഷ്ടം എന്നിവ ഒഴിവാക്കാനും യാത്രക്കാര്‍ക്ക് സമയ നഷ്ടവും ഒഴിവാക്കാം. റൺവേയുടെ ...
