Terminal 2 of the Cochin International Airport has undergone a face-lift recently. The terminal, which was renovated with around Rs 240 crore, now boasts of state-of-the-art facilities along with traditional Kerala architecture. ‘Kerala Art Arcade’ installed near the security check area in level 2 has become the main center of attraction in the airport. The terminal is set up on the theme of ‘Ettukettu’ – a traditional style house in Kerala – and the art arcade is designed with a ‘nadumittam’ (center courtyard) with a ‘Koothambalam’ replica and mural paintings. Kochi airport, the seventh busiest in the country, had been non-functional from August 14 to 28 owing to the devastating flood that shook the entire state between August 8 and 22. The airport authorities had first announced the shuttering of the facility till August 18, which was then extended to August 26 and further to August 29 as water levels continued to rise inundating the runway, the terminals as well as the large solar farm surrounding the airport. പ്രതീകാത്മക ചിത്രം; കടപ്പാട്-ടഗാട്ടായ് ഹൈലാന്‍ഡ്സ് വെള്ളം കയറി കൊച്ചി രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളം നിശ്ചലമായപ്പോള്‍ തിരക്ക് കൂടിയത് തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍.രണ്ടാഴ്ചയ്ക്കുള്ളില്‍ ആയിരത്തിലേറെ അധിക സര്‍വീസുകളാണ് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് വന്നുപോയത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിമാനത്താവളത്തിലെ തിരക്ക് ഇവിടുത്തെ ഹോട്ടലുകളിലും ദൃശ്യമായിരുന്നു. വിമാനങ്ങളിലെ ജീവനക്കാര്‍ക്ക് താമസിക്കാന്‍ തലസ്ഥാനത്തെ എല്ലാ ഹോട്ടലുകളിലും മുറി തികയാതെ വന്നു. ശരാശരി 120 സര്‍വീസുകളാണ് വിമാനത്താവളം വഴി പ്രതിദിനം നടന്നത്. രാജ്യാന്തര ടെര്‍മിനലിലെ 9 ബേകളും ആഭ്യന്തര ടെര്‍മിനലിലെ 11 ബേകളും ഏതാണ്ടെല്ലാ സമയവും നിറഞ്ഞു.15,16 തീയതികളില്‍ മൂന്നു ഹജ് വിമാനങ്ങളും തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് നിന്നും സര്‍വീസ് നടത്തി. എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ആഡംബര വിമാനമായ ഡ്രീം ലൈനര്‍ അടുത്തിടെവരെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം കണ്ടിരുന്നില്ല. പ്രളയം ഡ്രീം ലൈനറെ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് എത്തിച്ചു. ദുബായിലേക്കും തിരിച്ചുമായിരുന്നു ഡ്രീം ലൈനര്‍ യാത്ര. യാത്രാ വിമാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ കര, നാവിക, വ്യോമസേനാ വിമാനങ്ങള്‍, ഹെലികോപ്ടറുകള്‍ എന്നിവയ്ക്കും തിരുവനന്തപുരം വിമാനതാവളത്തിലായിരുന്നു സ്ഥലം. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്രമോദി, കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ രാഹുല്‍ ഗാന്ധി തുടങ്ങി വിഐപികളുടെ നിറയും ... വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് രണ്ടാഴ്‌ചയായി അടച്ചിട്ടിരുന്ന കൊച്ചി വിമാനത്താവളം പൂര്‍ണതോതില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം പുനരാരംഭിച്ചു. ബുധനാഴ്‌ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 2.06 ന് അഹമ്മദാബാദില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഇന്‍ഡിഗോ (6ഇ 667) വിമാനമാണ് പുനരാരംഭിച്ച ശേഷം വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമെത്തിയത്. പെരിയാര്‍ കരകവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകിയതോടെ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 15 ന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെയാണ് വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചത്. പരിസര പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം വിമാനത്താവളവും വെള്ളത്തിനടിയിലായി. ചുറ്റുമതില്‍ തകര്‍ന്നതുള്‍പ്പെടെ സാരമായ കേടുപാടുകള്‍ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന് സംഭവിച്ചു. വൈദ്യുതി വിതരണ സംവിധാനം, റണ്‍വെ ലൈറ്റുകള്‍, ജനറേറ്ററുകള്‍ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം തകരാറിലായി. വെള്ളം ഇറങ്ങിക്കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 20 നാണ് സിയാല്‍ പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍ ഓഫ് സിവില്‍ ഏവിയേഷന്‍ പരിശോധന പൂര്‍ത്തിയായതോടെ വിമാനത്താവളം സമ്പൂര്‍ണ ഓപ്പറേഷന് സജ്ജമായി. ബുധനാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് അഹമ്മദാബാദില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഇന്‍ഡിഗോ വിമാനമെത്തിയതോടെ സിയാല്‍ വീണ്ടും തിരക്കിലായി. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 3.25 നുള്ള ബാംഗ്ലൂര്‍ ഇന്‍ഡിഗോയാണ് ആദ്യമായി ടേക് ഓഫ് നടത്തിയത്. ആദ്യ ടേക് ഓഫിന് അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായൊരു വിഐപി യാത്രക്കാരനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു, കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ രാഹുല്‍ ഗാന്ധി. സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്ക ബാധിത പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ ... Kochi Airport, which has been closed since August 15 following incessant rain and flood that caused massive destruction to the state of Kerala, has resumed  operations at 2 pm today. Indigo flight 667 from Ahmadabad to Kochi was the first flight landed at the airport. As per the official circular issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) on Monday, all airlines, both domestic and international, will commence with the current schedule of operations. Since Kerala’s busiest airport, the Kochi International Airport, remain closed due to the floods, additional services will be operated from Thiruvananthapuram Airport. As per the authorities, 36 international and 12 domestic services will be operated today. Additional flights are mostly to the Middle East region. Meanwhile, 70 seater small aircrafts have started operating from Kochi naval base since yesterday. Currently, AllianceAir is flying to Bengaluru and Coimbatore from Kochi. Commercial flight operations resumed in Kochi  today, 20th August 2018, morning from the INS Garuda naval air station.  An Alliance Air flight, which took off from Bengaluru, was the first flight landed in the naval airstrip.  Alliance Air is a subsidiary of the state-run carrier Air India. Other airlines are also likely to fly to Kochi. Vistara became the first airline to launch new flights to Trivandrum to evacuate passengers stuck in Kerala due to floods caused by unprecedented rains. “We are operating special flights to TRV (Trivandrum) in view of COK (Kochi) airport closure for the next three days. Flights will operate from DEL and MAA (Chennai). We do not normally operate to TRV, and have made special arrangements,” Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer tweeted today. The Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has suspended its operations till August 26 owing to heavy rains in the region. All the flights at the airport are being cancelled and has prompted airlines to make special arrangements for the passengers, including alternative flights to nearby airports. Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) said that CIAL will not operate till August 26 due to rains and consequently, the Air Navigation Services wing of Airports Authority of India has issued NOTAM (notice to airmen). Kochi international airport has suspended its operations for four days. It was informed by the airport authorities in a notification issued. The notification states, “Kochi airport operations temporarily suspended till 18th Saturday 2 PM since the inflow of water is still on a raising trend. We are working hard to drain out the storm water. All are requested to co-operate.” All the suspended services of Kochi will be operated from Thiruvananthapuram Airport. ഇടുക്കി, ഇടമലയാര്‍ അണക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ തുറന്ന പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍ നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരി വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ വിമാനങ്ങൾ ഇറങ്ങുന്നത് താൽക്കാലികമായി നിർത്തിയത് പിൻവലിച്ചു . ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 1.10 മുതലാണ് വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ലാന്‍ഡിങ് താത്കാലികമായി നിര്‍ത്തിവെച്ചത്‌. സ്ഥിതിഗതികൾ വിലയിരുത്തിയ വിമാനത്താവള അധികൃതർ 3.15 നു പഴയ നില പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇടമലയാറില്‍ നിന്ന് എത്തുന്ന വെള്ളം പെരിയാര്‍ കവിഞ്ഞ് ചെങ്കല്‍ത്തോടും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകിയതോടെയാണ് ലാന്‍ഡിങ് നിര്‍ത്തിയത്. ചുറ്റുമതിലിന് പുറത്ത് വെള്ളം നിറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്. റണ്‍വേയില്‍ നനവുണ്ടോ പരിശോധിച്ച ശേഷമാണ് വിമാനങ്ങളുടെ ലാന്‍ഡിങ് പുനഃരാരംഭിച്ചത്. വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് 2013ല്‍ വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചിരുന്നു. കനത്ത മഴയെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇടമലയാര്‍ ഡാം തുറന്നുവിട്ട സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ സമീപത്തെ ചെങ്ങല്‍ കനാല്‍ നിറഞ്ഞുകവിഞ്ഞതോടെയാണ് അന്ന് വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചുപൂട്ടിയത്. ചെങ്ങല്‍ കനാലിന്റെ ആഴം കൂട്ടിയും ബണ്ടുകള്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചും വിമാനത്താവളത്തെ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കഭീഷണിയില്‍ നിന്നും സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ നടപടികളെടുത്തിരുന്നു.

  കൊച്ചി രാജ്യാന്തര വിമാനത്താവളക്കമ്പനി (സിയാൽ) 2017–18 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷം നേടിയത് 156 കോടി രൂപ ലാഭം. ഈ വർ‌ഷം ഓഹരിയുടമകൾക്ക് 25 ശതമാനം ലാഭവിഹിതം നൽകുന്നതിന് സിയാൽ ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡ് യോഗം തീരുമാനിച്ചു. സിയാലിന്റെ കഴിഞ്ഞ സാമ്പത്തികവർഷത്തെ മൊത്തം വിറ്റുവരവ് 553.42 കോടി രൂപയാണ്. പ്രവർത്തനലാഭം 387.92 കോടി മുൻ വർഷം ഇത് 298.92 കോടിയായിരുന്നു. ഡ്യൂട്ടിഫ്രീ ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള സിയാലിന്റെ ഉപകമ്പനികളുടെ കൂടെ വരുമാനം ചേർത്താൽ 701 കോടി രൂപയുടെ വിറ്റുവരവും 170 കോടി രൂപ ലാഭവും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. മുൻ വർഷം ഇത് 592 കോടി രൂപയായിരുന്നു. സിയാൽ ഡ്യൂട്ടീഫ്രീയുടെ മാത്രം കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷത്തെ വിറ്റുവരവ് 237.25 കോടി രൂപയുടേതാണ്. 2003–04 സാമ്പത്തിക വർഷം മുതൽ സിയാൽ തുടർച്ചയായി ഓഹരിയുടമകൾക്ക് ലാഭവിഹിതം നൽകിവരുന്നു. ഇതു വരെ നൽകിയ ലാഭവിഹിതം ഈ വർഷത്തേതുൾപ്പെടെ 228 ശതമാനമായി ഉയരും. യോഗത്തിൽ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയൻ അധ്യക്ഷനായിരുന്നു. മന്ത്രിമാരായ മാത്യു ടി. തോമസ്, വി. ...
