Improved connectivity is required for tourism development: Kerala Governor
“Improved road and air connectivity is necessary for the state to connect with other states and thus attract more tourists,” says Kerala Governer P Sathasivam. He was inaugurating the Nishagandhi Monsoon Music Fest at the Nishagandhi Auditorium at Kanakkunnu, Thiruvananthapuram. He also recommended the state government to utilise the Centre’s ‘UDAN’ (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme aimed at improving rural airports and connectivity. Travel and Tourism Fair kick starts in Hyderabad
A two-day Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) featuring domestic and outbound destinations began at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) on Friday, 13th July 2018 The first day of the show was reserved only for travel trade while the second day is open for all, including general public. The two-day travel trade show brings together State tourism boards, national tourist offices, hoteliers, airlines, tour operators and travel agents, online travel companies, railways and cruise lines under one roof, according to a press release.
Kerala Tourism organises roadshow in Odisha
Kerala tourism has organized a roadshow in Bhubaneswar to attract domestic travellers from the state. Kerala is expecting at least 10 per cent domestic tourists from Odisha this year. Around 7-8 per cent tourists from Odisha visited Kerala last year. Kerala tourism eyes to increase it up to 10 per cent this year. The roadshow showcased the presentation of a short 30-minute cultural programme, a visual storytelling that showcased the various art forms of Kerala. Kerala lures Andhra tourists to visit the state
Munnar Hills In an interactive session organized at Fortune Murali Park on Thursday, Kerala Tourism department invited Andhra Pradesh to visit the tourism destination of Kerala and experience its rich cultural heritage. The event was held as part of its tourism promotion campaign, and, the Kerala Tourism Department has showcased what God’s own country can offer. People of Andhra Pradesh are mainly interested in pilgrimage and cultural spots in Kerala. Gujarat to follow Kerala model for Ayurvedic tourism
The government of Gujarat is planning to promote Ayurvedic tourism, learnt from the success story of Kerala in the sector. A campaign launched by the Tourism Ministry promoted by Bollywood super star Amitabh Bachan, in this line was very promising. The government will start 10 wellness centers this year with a cost of Rs 5 crores. “LDF Government will generate 5 lakhs job opportunities in the tourism sector during its tenure,” said Tourism Minister Kadakampalli Surendran. Draft Tourism Regulatory Authority Bill to be amended: recommends CATO
The draft bill of Tourism Regulatory Authority of Kerala (TRAK) put forward by the Kerala State Government should be revised with some major amendments as suggested by the proponents of tourism industry. It was raised from the meeting of Confederation of Accredited Tour Operators (CATO) on 6th July 2018 at Le Meridian Hotel, Kochi. “Mandatory registration for all those working in the tourism industry is welcomed. Underground museum for Padmanabha Swami Temple
Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, told the media that the Central Government is willing to build a high-security underground museum near the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram so that devotees can have ‘darshan’ of the treasure.
