Varkala voted India’s most welcoming destination
Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram voted the ‘most welcoming place in India’ as per a poll conducted by Booking.com. According to the 7th annual edition of the Guest Review Awards survey, five destinations from Kerala got place in the total 10 most visited places in India. Varkala came first, in the Top 10 list in India, followed by Kochi (Kerala) and Jaisalmer (Rajasthan). Thekkady (4th Place in India), Alappuzha (6th) and Munnar (8th) are the other three destinations from Kerala got enlisted in the top ten list of India. Cold weather rejuvenate Munnar Tourism
Munnar Hills Munnar, the renowned hill station of Kerala, witnessed a blanket of frost on last Monday as the temperature dipped to -4 degrees Celsius. The cold wave has been continuing in all over south India, which has rejuvenated the tourism sector after being dormant in recent months, due to various factors. The hill station is getting crowded with tourists, who flock to enjoy the cold weather and to witness the frost. ‘Muziris Paddle’ witnesses participation of 100 paddlers from India and abroad
The second edition of the Muziris Paddle, a two-day kayaking, stand-up paddling (SUP) and sailing event, witnessed participation from over 100 paddlers from India and abroad, including 15 women and 12 children. The event, concluded on January 6, was organised by Jellyfish Watersports, in association with the Muziris Heritage Project (Kerala Tourism). Vasantholsavam – the spring festival is back in Thiruvananthapuram
Vasantholsavam – the spring festival is back in Thiruvananthapuram. A nine-day long flower show, organized by the tourism department will kick off on January 11 2019. Other than flower show, the event will feature an exhibition-cum-sale of agricultural produce, rare herbs and medicinal plants, and food festivals. It was announced by the Tourism Minister, Kadakampally Surendran. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on January 11 in front of the Kanakakkunnu Palace. Tourism stakeholders in North Kerala launches Malabar Tourism Society
With an aim to promote the Northern part of Kerala, the travel and tourism stakeholders have come together to form Malabar Tourism Society. The organization, which is scheduled to be launched on January 12, 2019, aims to develop the tourism in Malabar (North Kerala) region and promote six districts of Northern Kerala collectively by forming a dedicated Malabar circuit. Ponmudi, the renowned tourist destination of Thiruvananathpuaram, is going to have additional 15 rooms, including 5 independent cottages, in the Golden Peak Resort. Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will dedicate the additional facilities to the public on 18th December 2018. Foreign tourists in big groups arrive in Kochi
The tourism sector of Kerala, which was almost stagnant after the floods, has been reviving slowly, but steadily. Tourists from around the world are flocking to Kerala, as the season has started. The fifth edition of International Mountain Cycling Contest has concluded at Wayanad in Kerala on December 8. MTB Kerala-2018 has concluded at the Priyadarshini Tea Estate in Mananthavady.
