After the incessant rains and flood, Kuttanad in Alappuzha, renowned for its house boats, is bouncing back to normal. House boats resumed operation in Alappuzha on 31st August 2018. This year was expected to be a better tourism season for the houseboats, with the announcement of the first-ever Boat League, Nehru Trophy Boat Race and Monsoon Tourism in the tourism chart. പ്രളയത്തില്‍ ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട മൂന്നാര്‍ തിരിച്ചു വരുന്നു. ഹോട്ടലുകളും റിസോര്‍ട്ടുകളും ബുക്കിംഗ് ആരംഭിച്ചു. കുറിഞ്ഞിക്കാലം അകലെയല്ലന്ന പ്രതീക്ഷയിലാണ് മൂന്നാറിലെ ടൂറിസം മേഖലയെന്ന് മൂന്നാര്‍ ഡെസ്റ്റിനേഷന്‍ മേക്കേഴ്സ്(എംഡിഎം) മുന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റ് വിമല്‍ റോയ് ടൂറിസം ന്യൂസ് ലൈവിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. റോഡുകള്‍ തകര്‍ന്നും വൈദ്യുതി-ടെലിഫോണ്‍ ബന്ധം മുറിഞ്ഞും രണ്ടാഴ്ചയോളം ഒറ്റപ്പെട്ട അവസ്ഥയിലായിരുന്നു മൂന്നാര്‍. അടിമാലി-മൂന്നാര്‍ പാതയില്‍ നിലവില്‍ ചെറിയ വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്കെ പ്രവേശനമുള്ളൂ.അടിമാലിയില്‍ നിന്ന് ആനച്ചാല്‍ വഴി മറ്റു വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മൂന്നാറിലെത്താം.നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകള്‍ പഴക്കമുള്ള മൂന്നു പാളങ്ങള്‍ പ്രളയത്തില്‍ തകര്‍ന്നിരുന്നു. വിനോദ സഞ്ചാരികളെ വരവേല്‍ക്കുന്നതിനു മുന്നോടിയായി മൂന്നാറും സമീപ സ്ഥലങ്ങളും ടൂറിസം രംഗത്തുള്ളവര്‍ അടക്കം എല്ലാവരെയും അണിനിരത്തി ശുചീകരിച്ചതായും വിമല്‍ റോയ് പറഞ്ഞു

Ban on tourism and operations of heavy vehicles in Idukki, imposed by an advisory on 9th September 2018 has been lifted with effect from 31st August 2018. The new advisory issued by Jeevan Babu,  District Collector of Idukki, on behalf of the District Disaster Management Authority, states that the advisory banning tourism and operations of heavy vehicles in the Idukki District has been revoked by this order. Kuttanad in Alappuzha, one of the best tourism spots in Kerala, famous for its back waters and house boats, has been in a stagnated state, after the devastating floods. Among others, tourism fraternity have also been taking part in the rescue and relief operations in the flood ridden state. Kerala lauded the heroes of the state, whose selfless actions have saved thousands of lives during the devastating flood.  The state government has arranged a programme to felicitate the fishermen community, who were part of the rescue operations during the flood. Around three hundred fishermen, who have saved around 65000 lives, were given cash prizes, mementos and certificates by the Chief Minister “Fishermen have showed reckless courage in carrying out the rescue operations. വെള്ളപ്പൊക്കത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് രണ്ടാഴ്‌ചയായി അടച്ചിട്ടിരുന്ന കൊച്ചി വിമാനത്താവളം പൂര്‍ണതോതില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം പുനരാരംഭിച്ചു. ബുധനാഴ്‌ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 2.06 ന് അഹമ്മദാബാദില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഇന്‍ഡിഗോ (6ഇ 667) വിമാനമാണ് പുനരാരംഭിച്ച ശേഷം വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമെത്തിയത്. പെരിയാര്‍ കരകവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകിയതോടെ ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 15 ന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെയാണ് വിമാനത്താവളം അടച്ചത്. പരിസര പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊപ്പം വിമാനത്താവളവും വെള്ളത്തിനടിയിലായി. ചുറ്റുമതില്‍ തകര്‍ന്നതുള്‍പ്പെടെ സാരമായ കേടുപാടുകള്‍ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിന് സംഭവിച്ചു. വൈദ്യുതി വിതരണ സംവിധാനം, റണ്‍വെ ലൈറ്റുകള്‍, ജനറേറ്ററുകള്‍ എന്നിവയെല്ലാം തകരാറിലായി. വെള്ളം ഇറങ്ങിക്കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 20 നാണ് സിയാല്‍ പുനരുദ്ധാരണ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയത്. ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍ ഓഫ് സിവില്‍ ഏവിയേഷന്‍ പരിശോധന പൂര്‍ത്തിയായതോടെ വിമാനത്താവളം സമ്പൂര്‍ണ ഓപ്പറേഷന് സജ്ജമായി. ബുധനാഴ്ച ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് അഹമ്മദാബാദില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഇന്‍ഡിഗോ വിമാനമെത്തിയതോടെ സിയാല്‍ വീണ്ടും തിരക്കിലായി. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 3.25 നുള്ള ബാംഗ്ലൂര്‍ ഇന്‍ഡിഗോയാണ് ആദ്യമായി ടേക് ഓഫ് നടത്തിയത്. ആദ്യ ടേക് ഓഫിന് അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായൊരു വിഐപി യാത്രക്കാരനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു, കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ രാഹുല്‍ ഗാന്ധി. സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ വെള്ളപ്പൊക്ക ബാധിത പ്രദേശങ്ങള്‍ ... Relief efforts are in full swing in different parts of Kerala after the flood waters started receding. Tens of thousands of people are still displaced from their homes. And the tourism fraternity from Trivandrum, the capital of the state which was not affected by the floods, is rushing to the aid of the flood victims. Emirates SkyCargo said it will carry flood relief cargo of over 175 tons to Kerala, joining the UAE community in their support of the people of Kerala. Over more than a dozen flights, the air cargo operator will transport the relief goods, which have been donated by various UAE-based businesses and organisations, to Thiruvananthapuram – the nearest online Emirates station to the areas most affected by the flood. The goods, including lifesaving boats, blankets and dry food items, will be handed over to the local flood relief and aid organisations for distribution.

The flood waters have receded from most of the places, and, the Kerala government has taken up the massive task of cleaning houses and public places filled with slush left behind. The hospitality industry in Kerala, which is also hit largely by the floods, is joining hands with the government to help clean the houses. A team of 66 members from the Thekkady Destination Promotion Council (TDPC) has volunteered in Aranmula (Central Kerala) yesterday.
