Vistara became the first airline to launch new flights to Trivandrum to evacuate passengers stuck in Kerala due to floods caused by unprecedented rains. “We are operating special flights to TRV (Trivandrum) in view of COK (Kochi) airport closure for the next three days. Flights will operate from DEL and MAA (Chennai). We do not normally operate to TRV, and have made special arrangements,” Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer tweeted today. All the tourists including 30 foreign tourists who were trapped following a landslide in the Plum Judy Resort in Munnar are safe, informed Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. The minister has also urged the authorities to shift the tourists from Idukki to a safer place. The minister gave instructions to the resort owners and also spoke to the foreigners who were trapped inside and assured all the possible help from the government.
